We had the good fortune of connecting with Irena Reedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Irena, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is, without a doubt, the unwavering love and support of my family. When I was 10 years old, after performing in my first play in Australia, I came home and told my parents that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. They told me I had to choose between being a professional Olympic gymnast, which I was also pursuing at the time, or following my passion for acting and filmmaking, as the rigorous hours of gymnastics left little room for anything else. Without hesitation, I chose acting. My parents exchanged a look and simply said, “Alright. Let’s do it.” From that moment, they were fully onboard, supporting me in every way possible.

Throughout my journey—whether it was during my remaining years in Australia, my move to the States, or finally landing in Los Angeles—my family has always been there for me. They’ve answered my late-night calls when I couldn’t sleep, comforted me when I was in tears and questioning my path, and celebrated with me at red carpet events, holding my hand as my first movie premiered on the big screen.

The strength, resilience, and work ethic that I carry with me are largely because of how my family raised me and the values they instilled in me. My father started his own successful business later in life; my mother pursued her degree and was recognized for her academic achievements; and my sister has built a career that she loves, one that allows her to live and work from anywhere in the world while enjoying the freedom to truly live. I am surrounded by inspiring, creative, and hardworking individuals who make me believe that my dreams will come true—and they already are.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I first moved out to LA, I primarily saw myself as an actress. However, that perspective shifted when my creative partner, Ashlyn Pearce, and I decided to produce our first short film, Another Story. In that process, I took on roles beyond acting—I became the writer, producer, showrunner, set designer, and more. It was through this experience that I discovered a deep love for filmmaking. Being able to create the stories I wanted to tell and then stepping into the role of the actress who brings those stories to life has been incredibly fulfilling. This new avenue of creativity opened up a whole new world for me, and I’ve embraced it wholeheartedly.

Living and working in LA is not easy—anyone here can attest to that. But is it worth it? Absolutely! The sacrifices, challenges, and obstacles we face only serve to make us stronger and bring us closer to the life we’re fighting for. It’s through these tough times that we learn valuable lessons and grow, preparing ourselves for the future we’re striving to achieve.

I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason. However, a few years ago, I came to understand that while this may be true, we also have control over how we react to situations. That’s the power we hold. Understanding this has allowed me to let go of the things I can’t control and find grace in what I can.

What I want the world to know is that following my heart and pursuing my dreams has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Whether I’m on set, in rehearsals, or writing and developing a new film with Ashlyn, I feel an overwhelming sense of peace—like this is exactly where I’m meant to be. Everyone deserves to feel that way in their life, and I’m grateful every day that I’ve found my place.
