We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabel Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabel, what makes you happy? Why?
Creating. Collaborating. Music. Nothing makes me happier than the three of these combined. As a dancer I absolutely love to create to music and when that creation can manifest into different types of art, whether that be a music video, a photo shoot, or any other type of content, it brings me the most joy. Working with other creators and collaborating on a project is a feeling that is so special. Bouncing ideas off one another is really the most important aspect of diving into the creativity of being a human. The exhilaration is evident in the process of creating, and the end result is just a product of that enjoyment.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is me and I am my art. Together we are a harmonious entity. The content I create never ends up being the same because no day I live is ever exactly the same. The world changes every second that we breathe in and shifts every-time we breathe out, and that is the beautiful thing about creating. Coming up with an idea, writing it down, making it happen and seeing the end result is so satisfying. Artists really are masters at manifesting. There is no better feeling when a project turns out exactly like you planned, but also nothing like you planned. Everything is subjective and anything anyone makes is intriguing because it is simply a sign of where they are at in life and what is going on within their being at the time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I find myself enjoying every aspect of exploring the areas around me. Whether that be new coffee shops, restaurants, bars, clubs or beaches. I love trying new places every weekend. I actually have a (LONG) running list of coffee shops that I have visited recently so that I remember which ones are personally worth going back to. If my besties were to come into town I would start the day off early. Take a little trip to my favorite coffee shop, DayGlow, in Silver lake, or if we could snap our fingers and go anywhere I would take us to Newport Coffee CO. (they have the best flavored coffee and Acai bowls are to die for). After that we would head over to Courage Bagels. Even if the line is long we would stay because it is worth it 🙂 Then we would hit the beach. Probably Manhattan because it is the coziest. Play some beach volleyball, maybe rent a bike and ride it to Hermosa beach and back. We would eat dinner at Baja Sharkeez, and then later go out at the Victorian… (The most LA answer but it really is a good time)!! I love living here in LA, and cannot wait to explore even more parts of this beautiful city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I approach my graduation date, there is no other place/ person/ entity that I would like to thank more than Hussian College Los Angeles. I grew up there. Not in the sense of becoming a child to an adult, but in the manner of growing up as a storyteller… As an artist and as a creator. Planting the seeds my freshman year, and finally seeing the product of the watering and nurturing that has been taking place over the past four years of my life. Majoring in commercial dance and being surrounded by fellow creatives has allowed me to sit with the art that I want to give voice to. I know who I am and I know what I want to share with the world, and I could not be more excited about what is to come.
