Meet Jack Kenway Cheng

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Kenway Cheng and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jack Kenway, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
There are constant struggles in life, there will be so many moments where we question if we should keep going or not. Is it worth it? Does this make me happy? Does this actually sustain my life? These are all questions that we constantly ask ourselves throughout our career and pursuing our dreams. Sometimes our dreams aren’t able to sustain a living for us and sometimes when we do sustain a living, it’s not what we wanna do. It is so hard and rare to be able to find a career that is also your dream. When you do that, it’s still hard to know whether if this is the right choice, you’ll still constantly question yourself throughout that career. Ask yourself, does this make me happy? Does this make me proud of what I do who I am. I’m an actor, and I constantly ask myself Is this the kind of project that I would want to go watch myself? Does my work here today influence other people and able to make people question things or think about things? And when that answer is yes, it tells me that it’s all worth it and that I won’t give up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am extremely proud of a lot of the work that I have done so far. There was a mini series that I did a couple months ago that made lifetime friends for me and also left a lasting impact on a lot of kids who have seen the show. The kids were watching the show smile and leaving. The last impact on them is what tells me that this is all worth it and that I’m proud of the work that we have done there. In two weeks, I’m leading a short film about a rock climber who suffered a heavy injury and I love telling different stories through different voices and that’s what’s important for us. Artist is that we need to lend our voice to the people who are unable to give their voice. The road has been very challenging as an actor. It’s very hard to sustain a living. It is my dream and it is my goal, but I am definitely not completely there yet to be called successful. But what’s important is that I don’t give up and keep going no matter what, and keep doing things that I am proud of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a great question! There’s so many great spots here in LA. It’s a melting pot of everything and you can find every type of people and every type of thing here which is always so fun and Interesting! My favorite restaurant here is an Italian restaurant called Il Pastaio. It is absolutely amazing. The pasta is there and raviolis are out of this world! The Grove and the central mall are always fun just going around so many interesting things to see. The Hollywood escape hotel is very fun to give you a little passport for you to collect all of the escape rooms that are there. Disneyland and Universal Studios is a must especially horror nights in October!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family have always been so supported even through the toughest of time. I have so much love and my goal is to always make them proud. My amazing girlfriend who is also an amazing actress and amazing supporter, and friends who have supported me along the way. My teachers and professors who have taught me so much about acting and the industry in general.
