We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Loeb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackie, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Giving up has never been an option, however I do believe there is strength and courage in giving up. It’s not a sign of failure but a proactive measure of taking control of one’s life and opening the door to new possibilities. And that’s about as philosophical as I get.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been working as a comic for my entire adult life. I arrived at The Sydney Comedy Store as an ambitious, shy and some what naive twenty-year old. I now headline there as a not so fresh faced, delusional almost fifty year old.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have spent the last ten years of my life in Los Angeles. This is the itineray when friends from Australia would come to stay. If they’re kinda fit, Runyon Canyon followed by a trip to the 99 Cent Store. ( The bargains are unbelievable!) Then the mandatory trip to The Grove for no apparent reason. Then their stay culminates in a drive to Santa Monica and a long walk to either Venice or Malibu. Then for din din it’s off to Trader Joes for something I don’t have to cook. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family and friends. Full stop pop.
