We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Huang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I take risks all the time. In the world of creativity, risk-taking is inevitable. While there is always an easier approach available, embracing risks is crucial for advancing one’s career. It’s also important to weigh the potential outcomes and make calculated decisions when considering these risks.

Throughout my career, I constantly partake in risk-taking, from choosing to attend an art and design school to undertaking ambitious projects. These risks have been crucial in my professional and personal development, allowing me to produce work that I am genuinely proud of. Also, taking risks enhanced my skills as a creative professional, and expanded my network with other fellow risk-takers and creatives.

Overall, my experiences with risk-taking have been transformative. The experiences that I had significantly shaped my resilience, emotional intelligence, and my capability to present my work compellingly at a higher level. These elements are vital because they fundamentally influence who I am today, both professionally and personally.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art and design work is very personal, reflecting my core ethics, values, and perspectives on the world. Everything I create is an opportunity to explore creativity without constraints, taking on controversial topics and expressing viewpoints often left unspoken. The resonance of my work with audiences is particularly enthralling, affirming the connection between my artistic expressions and societal reflections.

Reaching my current professional standing has been a challenging journey. I have faced numerous obstacles, from mastering effective communication of my designs to balancing the demands of commercial projects with adding personal artistic flavors.

Continuous practice and resilience are crucial to the path of success in any creative field. Each project presents unique challenges, demanding both technical skill and emotional maturity, especially in handling criticism. Ultimately, developing the right mindset is crucial for overcoming these hurdles and evolving both personally and professionally.

I essentially want the world to know that my work and my story are about reinforcing bold, uncensored creativity. My journey involves the power of perseverance and the importance of maintaining authenticity in one’s work. I aim to inspire others to embrace their unique voice and contribute meaningfully through their creative endeavors.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d be thrilled to share with them the special places that resonate most with me. We’d dive into a mix of art, photography, and delicious foods.

We’d kick off the weekend by exploring some eclectic art museums I adore, places with unique and interactive exhibits that always spark creativity. Dinner would be at a Brazilian steakhouse and to end the night, we’d go to a cozy speakeasy bar I’ve discovered, where we can drink delicious cocktails.

The next day, we’d take a scenic drive to Solvang near Santa Barbara. This picturesque spot is perfect for mini photoshoots, with its charming Danish architecture and quaint streets. It’s a place where we can relax, snap photos, and savor some local pastries.

To me, these activities are fun because I love to go to different and interesting museums, I love photography, and I am a big-time foodie.
