We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaimie Chaurice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaimie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is: Let whoever think whatever and just keep getting better. I love this quote because it’s a reminder that everyone is at different phases in the journey of life and the opinions of other people shouldn’t deter you. Whether it be in regard to a spiritual walk, career goal, health goal, etc. If it isn’t something that is meant to aide in your personal growth, you shouldn’t let it affect you. It took me some time to be okay with where I was in my walk of life and stop comparing myself to others or living by someone else’s standards.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a women of God first, and a rap artist second. Remembering that order reminds me that all the work I put in and the endeavors that I take on should be a representation of my highest spiritual form. I think that’s what sets me apart from other artist; I do my best to stay spiritually centered and grounded so that I’m able to create my best art through music that glorifies God. It’s not always easy to be consistently set in my art; I wear many hats outside of being a rapper so I have to be intentional about take time to write, network and push out art that serves my purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Inland Empire in Southern California is filled with so many amazing places! I’d definitely start off with brunch at Ay Mi Pa in Riverside or Savage Chef in Menifee. If the weather is right, we can walk off the food coma on a hike to Etiwanda Falls. I love a good open mic night so Back to the Grind Coffee shop in Riverside is where I’d spend the evening or Karaoke at the Food Lab! I wouldn’t be able to let my bestie leave without having lunch at my favorite Thai restaurant Rice & Spice then maybe visit the Cabazon Outlets for some shopping and dinner somewhere i side of Morongo Casino. Lastly I’d spend the day in the Downtown Riverside Arts District to visit some museums and Art galleries then take a detour for food to go to Chef 2 the Bone in Corona!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother Phyllis. She has always been the example of strength, love and support. She stands in her power unapologetically and has always kept faith in God in every season of her life. Secondly I’d like to dedicate this shootout to my church family At the Cross Ministries in Riverside, CA. The support and mentorship I’ve received there has helped grow my faith and stay connected with the presence of Yahweh while navigating through a new chapter of my life.
