Meet Jakob Belton | college athlete

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jakob Belton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jakob, how do you think about risk?
I believe that life is all about taking risk and dealing with the outcome whether if it is positive or negative. Taking risk had a huge factor in my life decisions especially during high school where I decided not to apply to any university and apply to a juco to keep my dream of a playing division 1 football alive
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started playing football when I was around 7 and stopped due to health issues, but picked it back up in high school and proceeded to play all 4 years. I would be lying if I said that that my journey through it was smooth sailing. It was honestly rough the first two years. It got to the point where I wanted to quit but everything changed when a college recruiter came around my sophomore and talked to me, that was when I realized I can really make something of this. Which was the turning point which ended with reaching my goal of being a d1 college athlete a Colorado State University
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First place we’re going is definitely a good spot like la taqueria on 4th and Coronado. Then I would proceed to take him to 2nd which has of variety of shops and food spots like snow monster, Yasu and sweet jills. As we get close to sunset I would take them to signal hill top where you have a beautiful view of the city. Then when it gets to the night time we would come back to 2nd street where the bar life comes alive. And then spend the rest of the night bar hopping from Shannon’s, to dogs, to legends then Panama joes
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this to Everyone who believed and invested into me so I can be where I am.
