We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Sameshima and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Our mission is to provide ongoing support for local chefs, artists and musicians by providing a community space where they can test out new ideas, learn from one another, and be shaped and supported by the community.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Lokels Only, we provide a home for popular local food pop-ups found throughout Los Angeles. The way our current set up is run was born out of the pandemic and although it’s been a tough road, we wouldn’t have had it any other way. We had to remind ourselves daily that diamonds are created under pressure. We were forced to get creative and I believe we learned a lot about ourselves and what we’re capable of by going through this process. Now that we’re on the other side, we couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, so many things! I’d say a trip up to the Griffith Observatory followed by a Sunset dinner at Yamashiro’s. A drive up the 1 through Malibu to Neptune’s Net. Disneyland for some adventure and corndogs. Venice for some people watching. I think a taco tour would be in order. Guava cheese rolls from Porto’s. SO many things!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The people we’ve meet in the local food community have been some of the most supportive, generous (in food and spirit), and kindest people we’ve ever met. We’re incredibly grateful to be a part of it!
