We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Santos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jane, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Preparation and persistence. My obsession for the craft, long years of preparation in conjunction with faith and persistence are the main factors of the success and foundation of my brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t know if this trait sets me apart from others but I can say that I’m highly blessed to be compassionate and vulnerable in my day to day life and I also integrate into my work as a performer. What I’m most proud of is about not giving up when life threw some curve balls and to have the unconditional support of my family. Of course it hasn’t been easy, for sure life has its ups and down moments. It’s all about being present in any moment and understand that this “too shall pass”. Our industry isn’t easy since you have to face a lot of rejection, and being able to recover and rise through this storms becoming a “better”not “bitter” person.
What I want the world to know about me is that we should always think that people are fighting battles that we know nothing about, let’s try to be compassionate.!Our world, our people are suffering and we could be part of change with small actions and care.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ll take the freedom to redirect your question to take them to another country. I would definitely transport them to my beautiful land the Dominican Republic. There’s so much places and history in my homeland, so many interesting topics to cover….our music, our warm and hardworking people, our food, our beaches, our paradise. I consider myself and ambassador of my country, wherever I go I carry my flag with so much pride and honor. Also the film industry has been growing tremendously. We’ve had over the years high end productions shoot their films over there. Recently we had Jennifer Lopez, Lenny Kravitz, Mark Wahlberg, Vin Diesel, filming in our land, and this is just to mention a few celebrities. Whom also few are investing in properties as well. So, my invitation is to visit my beautiful island of Dominican Republic weather is for business purposes or for vacationing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to publicly acknowledge and give thanks to my mentor, actor and Filmmaker Bill Duke, who’s work, dedication, mentorship and friendship have influenced my life in such a positive way. Through this shoutout I want to honor his friendship and unconditional support to me and my family.
