We had the good fortune of connecting with Terra Newell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terra, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think about risk, I like to assess every aspect of the risk. There has been events in my life to shape me to be cautious about any risk at first. I always have to see if it will keep me safe physically and if that a yes, I move on to the next question. Is this risk worth my time? I have found in life that life is precious and not everything deserves a yes. Some things are simply not meant to align with you. If the risk aligns or promote self growth then I always believe the risk is worth it.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a trauma/ toxic relationship life coach. I advocate for victims, coach them through their healing, and create workshops that help guide them. I am the survivor of a knife attack against my moms ex husband. He is know as “Dirty John” for many people, but to me he was the person I had to kill. It took me many years to heal from this trauma and in doing so I am able to help people through my coaching.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my best friend visits, we really like to catch up and go to all our favorite places. We originally grew up in OC so we have to visit some of our favorite food places. We really like to go to A’s, Mastros, Gulfstream, and Javiers for dinner choices. Renting a Duffy with some of our old friends is also lots of fun. We always try to stay in Newport or go out for a day in Venice to all the board walk restaurants.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I feel as if there are so many people I need to thank in life. I want to thank every therapist, every friend, everyone whose been a guest on my podcast, anyone whose has had me on their platform. Everyone along the way has helped me with my journey of healing.
