We had the good fortune of connecting with Janelle Orange-Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janelle, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Sometimes it can be hard to tell if I’m supposed to give up and let go, or if I’m being tested to see how long I can maintain. And this is OK. I realize that sometimes I have to fight through bad days to get to the best days and that giving up is never an option. I strive each day to live life with a full cup, by filling it with the best of what’s around me. With family, especially my 2 young daughters, who are the biggest contributors to this and the WHYs behind all that I do. I fill it by continuing to learn and grow within my business, which includes surrounding myself with people who challenge, influence, and inspire me to level up. I also fill it by maintaining my faith and constant belief that what’s meant for me will be mine and what’s not wasn’t part of the plan. It’s not always easy but, I try to treat the past as a lesson, the present moment as a gift, and the future as my motivation. And with this, the truest blessing is to be able to pour back into others in return.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a real estate broker associate in SoCal. I believe what sets me apart from others is that contrary to the industry of home sales, I don’t consider myself to be a saleswoman. I like to build relationships and commitments, and I consider it a privileged to get to know my clients and be of service to them. I began in real estate, not with the intentions of this being my main career but with it being a task that was needed of me within my then, full-time job. Assisting to find a home was the original intent, that led to a full-time business in real estate. I’ve learned along the way that anything worth dedicating your time, focus, energy and dedication to, is worth building a business out of. And by building a business, that means legitimizing it as such. A true business. I love people – like, I really enjoy interacting with a myriad of personalities. I’m naturally drawn to the uniqueness of individuals and what makes them unique. I truly believe this is what I’ve been blessed with in order to be effective with my clients because, at the end of the day, the process of selling and buying a home is a collaboration. My intention is to always give my truest and best self at all times.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Truthfully, my best nights in the city are spent at home! I truly enjoy having a glass of wine and playing monopoly with my 7 and 9-year-old girls. BUT, if there was someone visiting me – who knows me… I would take them to the beach for sure! I like Ventura beach mainly because it’s closest to me and it’s quiet and relaxing. For dinner…. who doesn’t love Nobu!… I mean really… Nobu Malibu would be a go-to for an amazing dining experience. From there, I also have a dive bar-ish spirit being from the mid-west, so Id take them somewhere that has a pool table and great beers – I’ve had great times at House of Billiards. I think its also nice to be a big kid sometimes, so Id take them to Magic Mountain or SkyZone for fun.
