We had the good fortune of connecting with Janine Forte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janine, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand, Five Star Hippie® is that I pay attention to all that I do. If I am designing a look-book for our new jewelry collection, I am focused on that look-book. If I am coordinating a photo shoot, I hone in on all the details of that photoshoot. If I am with a client, I make sure I am present for that person and listening to what it is that they may want or need. I make a lot of personal connections doing the work that I do, and I believe that is a privilege; therefore, I make it a priority to be fully present for myself, my brand, and my people.

What should our readers know about your business?
Five Star Hippie® is a mindful jewelry company that makes malas, charm bracelets, necklaces, and other high-vibrational jewelry. All of our pieces are hand-crafted in our Miami Beach oasis and are made from eco-friendly materials and infused with love and intention. Not only that, but each piece of jewelry is crafted with a positive message in mind—meant to inspire and heal your body, mind, and soul. Five Star Hippie® also believes in giving back, which is why part of the proceeds of every mala you buy helps to support Oceana, a non-profit organization that protects our oceans.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
In SoCal, my favorite spot to chill is Point Dume in Malibu. The place is PURE MAGIC. When I am there I get so inspired & charged, and it feels as if life stands still. Another spot I love hanging at is the Malibu Country Mart. I especially like SunLife Organics for their smoothies, Grom for their gelato, and Lululemon for their yoga gear–and where I host pop-ups with Five Star Hippie®. Another one of my favorite spots is Gjusta in Venice. They have the best egg sandwich, delicious bread, and strong cappuccinos, just how I like them. Last but not least, I love YogaWorks on Main Street in Santa Monica. It’s a no-frills studio, but they have great teachers and serious practitioners.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My first shoutout goes out to my family for sure! My mother, my father, and my sister have supported me and my vision from the very beginning! They have sat, or shall I say, stood, at countless events from little flea markets, to international shows and their unconditional love and support mean the world to me. I LOVE YOU GUYS HARD. My friends, you know who you are, show up for me– and for that, I am extremely grateful. Tiffany Russo, my yoga teacher, who I’ve seen almost daily for the past several years deserves a shoutout. She may not know this, but she supports & inspires me Every. Single. Day. Dr. Petterson. Oh, Dr. Petterson. Thank you for always being there for me & believing in me. How I love and appreciate you. My yogi sisters, and brothers. We may not talk on the regular, but boy do I feel you guys and your energy. And, a BIG shoutout to my clients near and far. I read and listen to every one of your messages and I see you. Thank you for choosing me, over and over. And, to all the women out there that took the leap to start or create something, you inspire me & I admire you.
