Meet Jaron Smalls | Musical Artist & Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaron Smalls and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaron, what are you inspired by?
My life experiences and my ear for music shape my art. Growing up in a sheltered environment, there were times when I could only hold an opinion internally before eventually expressing it, whether it took days, weeks, months, or even years. As a child, I relied on friends to introduce me to new music. When I connect with a piece, I feel it profoundly, and that emotion then flows into my melodies and creative expression.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
From an early age, I was immersed in creativity, which ignited my passion for the arts. After high school, this passion led to unexpected opportunities, and I realized I was living my purpose, deepening my commitment to the journey. In 2023, after relocating to California, I was invited to perform at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and later collaborated with Sean Carson on our own show that fall. With Sean’s mentorship, I expanded my network and secured a sync placement in episode seven, season three of Bigg Jah’s online series, “The Lesbian Homie.” In 2024, I released my single “See Thru” in April, my second project “Dusk Falls Before Dawn” in May, and my new single “Nightfall,” produced by T2 and Alejandro Preschel, in August.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Los Angeles, you will find me wherever there are ocean views and great food. While I am still discovering all that the city has to offer, I am constantly exploring. Most days, I am out and about, and by night, you will likely find me in the studio.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my success to God, my family, my team, my tribe, and my supporters. I want to extend a special shoutout to Sean Carson, Marlin Minks, Bigg Jah, Jeremy Shabo, JDAM, Davenci, Kobe Donovan, IzzeYe, Matthew Faulkner, Disco Mechanic, and Mr. SOC for their significant roles in my journey on the West Coast thus far.
