We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarvis Rhone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jarvis, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is where the edge is. The place is where faith, preparation and action meet. For me, taking risk is where the true fulfilment of living starts to manifest. One of the greatest risks I ever took was moving to L.A. with no place to stay, no family and barely any friends. However, if I had not taken a risk to expound my musical capabilities, I would have never invented U-KEYS®. I move to L.A. to become a music producer, but thanks to living on the edge, and being willing to make mistakes, I was able to inspire someone into asking me, “where I bought my keyboard”. They didn’t know I customized it myself. This inspired me to figure out how to sale my product to the world. Now, I have patents in multiple countries and help people who are visually impaired. When I started, I would have never thought I end up here. If you fear risk, then you fear success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets U-KEYS® apart from everyone else is our customers. U-KEYS® attracts unique musicians who have a limitless imagination. U-KEYS® is only limited by the customer’s imagination.

I am proud to announce U-KEYS® now offers braille and raised print for our educational learning system. Soon we will be announcing new strategic partnerships to help get our products in schools for the blind and other organization to promote music education. I am most proud that U-KEYS® truly represents musicians. U-KEYS® was created, patented and trademarked by a musician for musicians!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For starters picking the perfect location to stay can make or break your L.A. trip. I’m a pretty chill guy from the Midwest so I enjoy and value whatever space I can get. I would recommend staying in NOHO or Encino. Every day I’d start the day off with a drive through Topanga Canyon down to malibu pier. Or maybe a morning hike to the Hollywood sign. Next, I’d follow that up and enjoy a nice tea, mediation or just enjoy the surfers catching their waves. Then, I’d head down to Sunset Blvd for brunch/lunch. My favorite place to get sushi is over at Sugar fish. If you want, you could also go right up to Hollywood Blvd to sightsee. Before traffic really gets crazy, I’d go back to the hotel to recoup and get ready for the evening. Where to begin a night in L.A? All I can say is the possibilities are endless. You could catch a Lakers game, listen to live music in universal City or Sunset Blvd or go check out the ever-improving L.A. Live in downtown L.A. However, just know that the fun doesn’t start until at least 10pm.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my late father Jimmie Rhone. My dad was the first person to believe in my musically and in my product U-KEYS®. I can still remember the first keyboard he bought me at a RadioShack in a mall. He stood behind me and pulled it down so I could poke around at it. He was also the first person who wanted to become a financial investor before he passed. Unfortunately, he never saw the full potential of the product.

One other person I’d like to shoutout is J. Prince (James Prince). He inspired me to never quit again. While watching a documentary he said he had a revelation when he realized, all he had to do to be successful was to never quit. When I heard him say that, it blew my mind. It was so simple and profound. So, I want to pass it on and tell everyone, never quit! You may have to alter your course but, keep the destination the same.
