We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Mobley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor I would say is simply trusting myself and the process. Not just moving to LA and believing I will be okay out here on my own, but believing I can actually be a content creator. When I first started creating content for fun, I didn’t have a specific goal in mind. I knew I had pretty curly hair and always thought to myself “I want to be a curly girl making videos for curly hair brands”. I thought maybe I had to be part of an agency for them to notice me, or have an agent submit me, but in reality all I had to do was post the content on my own and be confident and full out in what I post. Full out meaning don’t slack on the content, don’t get lazy, invest in the proper equipment, and it all will fall into place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Something that probably most of my followers don’t know about me is content creating is not the only job I have. I also work in the tech industry and have been since I graduated college in 2017. I went to school for Computer Design and it’s something I really enjoy doing as well. It is definitely a hard industry if you’re not a tech savvy person, a lot of paying attention to detail such as in the code. If something is wrong in the code, everything is messed up. I did learn a good work/life balance but sometimes it’s tiring. Working a 9-5 job then as soon as i’m off having to work another job which is creating content. But it’s definitely all worth it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends come for the first time, I take them to the main attraction spots like the walk of fame, runyon hiking trail, venice beach, places that are touristy. But if they’ve already been here and they’re visiting again, I plan a beach day at either Manhattan Beach or Malibu, I love the beach. I’ll plan a hike as well but I like hikes that are more challenging and is a little workout. Nice rooftop happy hour or brunch places for good views, and maybe a day party or a boat day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout the DMV photographers that helped me get my start and my portfolio going before I even moved to LA. We always create such fire content and a lot of the shoots I did with them is what got me recognized by some brands today. Thank you for all the little things as well such as posing ideas, outfit or style ideas, wanting to shoot me more with my curly hair! I used to always straighten my hair but they liked to show off my curls and made me more confident in wearing them.
