We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Noghrey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi jasmine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Joojeh Joy is more than a company, It’s honestly my heart in a box.

I’m a pediatric occupational therapist, a special ed teacher, and a professor and I’ve worked with kids, teens, and adults in every setting you can think of: hospitals, homes, schools, clinics. What I kept noticing was that so many sensory toys on the market were either too clinical, too chaotic, or just not made with intention. Families were overwhelmed, kids weren’t engaged, and therapists like me were constantly DIY-ing solutions. So I decided to change that.

Joojeh Joy curates sensory items that are beautiful, functional, and meaningful. These are tools I actually use in sessions things that support regulation, build fine motor skills, and give kids a sense of control and joy, even in tough times like chemo, neurorehab, or just navigating the school day.

But what makes us different isn’t just what’s inside the box. It’s the soul behind it. I include positive messages to the kids, Iist how each item can be used therapeutically, and I always ask: “Would I give this to one of my own clients?” If the answer’s not a hard yes, it doesn’t go in.

So yeah Joojeh Joy is sensory magic, but it’s also a reminder that every child, every teen, every adult deserves tools that respect who they are and help them shine.

What should our readers know about your business?
Joojeh Joy is a sensory toy company I created through the lens of being a pediatric occupational therapist, a special education teacher, and someone who’s worked closely with families in a wide range of settings—schools, clinics, homes, and community programs. I wanted to build something that felt like a bridge between therapeutic support and joyful play. Something that didn’t look clinical, didn’t feel overwhelming, and truly met families where they are.

What sets us apart is that every single item is thoughtfully curated with a therapeutic purpose in mind. These are not random sensory toys. They’re tools I use in real sessions with real people. I think about the child who needs support with transitions, the teen who craves fidget tools that don’t feel babyish, and the adult who benefits from sensory input but doesn’t want it to look like therapy. That’s the heart of Joojeh Joy.

What I’m most proud of is that this company is built on relationships and trust. I write personal notes to the kids. I respond directly to families who ask, “Do you have something for picky eating?” or “My child struggles with regulation, what would help?” I take the time to truly customize, because that’s what I believe makes a difference.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I started Joojeh Joy while working multiple jobs doing home visits, teaching classes, running social groups, and navigating the everyday challenges that come with building something from the ground up. I didn’t have a business plan or a team. I just had heart, clinical experience, and a deep love for the families I work with. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, listen more than I speak, and stay rooted in purpose over perfection.

What I want the world to know is that Joojeh Joy isn’t about selling toys. It’s about creating meaningful tools that bring comfort, connection, and confidence. It’s about reminding every child, teen, and adult that sensory needs are human needs and everyone deserves access to joy, play, and support that feels personal and thoughtful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit LA, I’d take them to my favorite mix of peaceful and playful spots starting with a calming walk at Lake Shrine, lunch on the Malibu Pier, and a golden hour stop at El Matador Beach. We’d explore The Getty, stroll through Grand Central Market, grab ice cream at Wanderlust in Studio City, and maybe catch a show at the Hollywood Bowl. LA has this perfect blend of soul, sunshine, and I’d want them to feel every bit of it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have shaped my journey as a pediatric occupational therapist, special education teacher, professor, and founder of Joojeh Joy. But this shoutout is dedicated to all the families I’ve had the honor to work with.

Whether I met you in a hospital, a school, a clinic, or during a virtual session, your strength, trust, and openness have left a permanent mark on me. You’ve taught me what real advocacy looks like, what love sounds like under pressure, and what hope feels like in action.

Joojeh Joy was built with your voices in mind. Every message, every question, every story you’ve shared helped shape the purpose and heart behind what I do. I created Joojeh Joy not just to offer sensory tools, but to create something meaningful that supports families in real life the way I’ve seen you show up for your kids every single day.

So to every family who has let me be a small part of their journey: thank you. You are the reason I do what I do, and I carry your stories with me in every product, every session, and every joyful moment we create together.
