We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodney Martin Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodney, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Alpha Uno Athletics started right here in our small garage gym in Inglewood, CA. Even though we were in a small garage gym, the word was spreading quickly about us. How we are impacting the neighborhood through health, fitness, and and a positive community here at our house. We quickly outgrew our garage gym and moved into a bigger location located in the same city, Inglewood. We now have outgrown our new location after just barely moving in there last year. Despite the pandemic happening, we still thrived and helped our community in Inglewood through those rough times. This was for many of our members a sanctuary and safe place. It was just more than fitness for them, it was their second home. In our city there are other virus’ that have been going on for a while. By the Grace of God we’ve been blessed to help many of kids stay out of gang activities, helped members who did not have any real friends or family make some at our gym. We broke all stereotypes such as not being able to do a certain activity because they are too young, too old or their family doesn’t do that so they shouldn’t do that. Helping people overcome addictions to being addicted to the gym and bettering their health. Helping people who has records and finding hope and a future because they found our gym. Helping people and when we say people we speak for the elderly, adults and kids but many has over come social anxiety and now loves interacting with everyone at the gym. We’ve changed so many people lives since our garage gym, to now it goes beyond just trying to be strong and look good. At the end of the day everyone is striving to be the best version of themselves and not fall victim of the product of our community here in Inglewood. We are slowly changing people lifestyles in a positive way and building a better, stronger and more educated community in Inglewood. Alpha Uno Athletics we’re all in the same pack, we all hunt and eat together and everyone from the young to old and no matter what your background or history is we are all Alphas and leaders that continue to strive to uplift one another around us and make sure no one is left behind because everyone is important. You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Google and our website www.alphaunoathletics.com and check out our reviews, testimonials, transformation and much more. Our community and Alphamilia will speak for itself!
What should our readers know about your business?
Here at Alpha Uno Athletics you don’t become an Alpha Uno by learning to gets everyone’s approval. You become an Alpha Uno by living the life you want, regardless of whether or not peoples approve thats what sets us apart from the sheep and a Alpha Dog. You don’t become an Alpha Uno by eradicating fear. You become an Alpha Uno by doing what you want, regardless of fear and thats how we got to where we are today. It wasn’t easy but if challenges its going to change you and we turned every obstacle into a opportunity to excel and we’re proud of every single one of our members of overcoming fear and being fearless. Every exercises and challenges they have faced in the gym has helped them grow and mature to be resilient and to preserver in the real world.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here are my top favorite things to do to show someone the best time ever in that week. 1. Will be go to amusement parks ( i.e – six flags, universal studios, disneyland etc) 2. Helicopter ride around the city. 3. visit the beaches (santa monica pier, venice beach, manhattan beach etc) 4. bomb food spots in LA ( i.e – Dirt Dog LA, street vendor tacos, Eureka,) 5. The Last spot will be places to dance (DB Lounges, The Mayan, Cumbia Cruises) all these places I mentioned I guaranteed my friend from out of town will love everything and have a great time!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my #1 fan and supporter my fiancee. She was the first person to really push me to get off my butt and start working harder. So because of her being my support through all of this Alpha Uno wouldn’t be where it is now. She takes care of all the administration work, meal prepping, makes protein shakes for the members, and so much more all while still working her regular day time job, and taking care of her son. Like they say behind every strong man there’s a strong woman.
