We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Stafford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Kaye Consults is my baby simply because it was birthed during a very sad time in my life. My father had recently passed away unexpectedly and that was followed by a bad breakup which resulted in me finally going to therapy for the first time. My wonderful job offers free therapy sessions through our Employee Assistance Program and it was one of the best things that happened to me. She suggested that I do something for me that makes me happy. I always wanted to start a blog, so Kaye Consults was born! The career revamping side of Kaye Consults was birthed because I was always revamping my friends resumes and cover letters or sending mine as a template and I saw them achieving their dream jobs and going after opportunities they might not otherwise have attempted so I knew then and there that service was something the world needed from little ole me. I am always offering my expertise and letting people know what does and does not work for me on this journey called life hence the consults in Kaye Consults.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently a Dealer Solutions Consultant which is a fancy way of saying I am a software consultant for car dealerships. So in my professional career I also consult. It’s just in my DNA at this point. I absolutely love my job! Pre-pandemic I traveled every single week to a new state to install and train software. During the pandemic that changed drastically and I currently work from home so that has been a huge adjustment. I am getting the travel bug again so after a year of being home I am starting to reevaluate my career choices because the main reason I love my job was the travel aspect! I started out as a project manager for another company then quickly found that cubicle life is not the life for me. So I revamped my resume and applied for every single travel position I could find. When my company called to interview me I honestly didn’t remember applying because at that point applying for positions was my second job. I have successfully worked my way up the ladder with my current company and am currently awaiting another promotion. It has been a wonderful experience to say the least and they definitely take care of their employees,
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in sunny Clearwater Beach, Florida so there are soooo many things to do and nearby cities to visit. We would definitely be hitting up the beach for a day of relaxation. There’s so many great restaurants on the beach but my favorites are Marina Cantina ( bottomless margaritas, mimosas, and bloody mary’s for weekend brunch, Salty’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and Kaia Bowls if you are obsessed with acai bowls like I am. Then there’s Tampa which is only about 30 minutes away where I spend majority of my time hanging out at rooftop bars for happy hour, plenty of shopping/restaurants and the nightlife is unmatched. Ybor City on Saturdays at the best club called 7th and Grove is definitely a must! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I always will give all the glory to God for never leaving me or forsaking me! I am truly blessed to have the best support system in the world starting with my mom and sister, friends and family. They are always encouraging me and pushing me to be my absolute best. I could not do any of this without them.
