We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Somers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“If you want to get something done, ask a busy person.” – Benjamin Franklin With over 300 active projects and 5,000 completed projects over the last 12 years since Crest Real Estate was established, I strongly believe that there is no substitute for a talented team committed to the work. Some pretty remarkable accomplishments occur when combined with efficiency and immediate attention to problem solving.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
With a foundation and expertise in the architecture industry based on deep knowledge of the municipal codes and how to effectively get projects approved at their most optimal level, I have been able to work with many of the Architectural Digest top 100 professionals over my career. This has provided massive insight into what creates timeless and iconic designs. These interactions piqued my interest in design leadership. As a result, I have now focused a significant part of my career on providing clients with design ideas and performing my own developments where I am acting more like a producer bringing top talents and ideas to the table, resulting in some truly one of a kind projects.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is my hometown, born and raised, and I believe it to be the best city in the world when taking all factors into play. There are endless activities to partake in this city with our perfect weather. But if I had a perfect weeklong itinerary it might go as follows… assuming I had a week off of work while in the city.
I think we first start by setting up camp in the iconic Chateau Marmont on the Sunset Strip where we have a group of friends come meet us for a vibey dinner on the outdoor patio amongst the most interesting group of patrons and ghosts of Hollywood’s past roaming the property. Then head to a midsummer night concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Once daylight comes, we get back to the health and wellness grind of LA, training at Equinox or hiking up Runyan Canyon followed by a sauna, cold plunge and IVs at Remedy place (This is every morning!) Next, I would take them on my own personal star tours of the city providing insights and back stories to some of the most amazing architecture and history of homes around the city, perhaps getting some exclusive tours of future incredible homes currently being developed. That night we would have to go see the Dodgers in action, while enjoying unlimited Dodger Dogs from the Dugout Club and looking out over the palm tree lined cotton candy sunset in the outfield. Let’s finish our trip by escaping the busy city and heading out to Malibu to meet up with my Dad, known as Doc by the locals, for a day of surfing and catching rays with a final bougie dinner at Nobu Malibu.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The saying of “The Crest Family,” rings true as the foundation of the company that has lead our market growth includes my brother, Steven Somers, who is a truly brilliant individual and has allowed us to create a two-headed monster of leadership to expand the bandwidth of our firm. Add to that my best friend since childhood, Thomas Dumary III, an attorney who leads the management of client and staff satisfaction with our services. With such trusted and long-term partners at my side, we have organically grown Crest with an ethos of loving one another and being there to support the entire team through all of the successes and challenges. This is essential in dealing with the some of the most high profile real estate projects in the country to navigate the ever more difficult governmental bureaucracies.
