We had the good fortune of connecting with Goldm9 and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Goldm9, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want people to remember me for being my authentic self. My own self style and my artistic touch is what makes me unique and I want the world to remember me for that. Along with my honesty and outspokenness on any social issue I want people to see that and appreciate me for always speaking up for what is right.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I don’t have limitations on my sound or my perspective of art and if I do, they won’t be there for long.

What I’m most excited about is the endless opportunities that awaits me in life. I don’t know what is coming. However, I want to be prepared. I have to give it up to my family, my brother and cousin, who were my first musical influences. I learned a lot from them just threw watching and listening alone. Big ups to my family.

I won’t lie, it took me alot to get to where I am today professionally. I had alot of personal growth to do, I’ve been through alot and there’s alot of unlearning and learning I had to do. To simply put it, I had to change the way that I think. The quality of your thoughts can very much so dictate the quality of your life. I’ve learned alot of lessons in life for sure. However, the two most important lessons in my life currently would be: to not give too much power to anything, especially if it doesn’t give back to you and the next one would be knowing and understanding the difference between people you have things in common with, and those who think like you.

What I want the world to know about me right now, “I’m on my way”…

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
ell I live in LA, so of course Id have to say the ocean. I’m from Wisconsin and I have friends from all over, so that’s a for sure. We’d have to have pho, Simply Pho You in Koreatown is the best in my opinion. Alot of my friends skate so we’d hit some spots like Jay Kwon.. I’d take them to the Falls DTLA for a drink and a turn up especially on the weekends. There’s always random parties, so yeah a day party would be cool. Gotta go on Fairfax to the Little Ethiopia area for food too. As far as hanging out goes Leimert Park for sure, plus there’s a cool skateshop over there called Neighbors Skateshop . Of course we’d end up in my studio sooner or later, even if they don’t do music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Cheryl (RIP), my brother Avorey (RIP) , my educator Asun Truth, my culture the 5% nation of Gods and Earths, Babers, music in general and Jimi Hendrix.
