We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanna Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeanna, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Authenticity and accessibility! I am Christmas spirit in human form. After a 20-year career – that’s still going strong – as a high-end holiday designer, I took to social media to spread Christmas cheer and share everything I know. I cannot decorate every space in the world but I can sure leave my mark by empowering and loving others through the most wonderful – and oftentimes difficult – season of the year. My fandom, who are all lovingly referred to as “Christmasers” came for the Christamsing but stayed for my unfiltered and glitterful take!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is that I am exactly who I am on and off camera and anyone who follows along knows this. As a person, I am faith-filled and share that with ease. I curse a bit, drink a bit more and share all my days… not just the great ones. My husband is always by my side – literally – we are always together. We are the parents to two amazing kids – one with autism. If you’re looking for someone to relate to, welcome to our 24/7 365 Christmas party!

In terms of my “job”: I’m fast. I just move at the speed of light and can get more done in a day than most people do (Or want to do!) in a week. This gift translates so well for us and that hands down separates me from others. I am joy filled and navigate it all with grace. To be fair… I am a fast moving person in general… I’m just extra fast with an ornament in hand! Set the clock and watch me go!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I was born and raised in Northern Los Angeles County and I’m deeply invested in my community. If my bestie was visiting, I’d bring them here to Santa Clarita! The presumption is that it’s a quiet little bedroom community – and it was when I was a kid. But today, there’s a lot more to do here than visit Magic Mountain. For the culinary chic, you have to stop at The Old Town Junction on Main Street in Downtown Newhall – which I happen to decorate for the City of Santa Clarita’s “Light Up Main Street” – the tree alone shines bright with over 3,000 ornaments and 5,000 lights! With OTJ’s kitchen-crafted cocktails and farm-fresh fare that’s built on the plate “up,” this is a must-stop with my BFF. History buffs will get a massive kick out of The Saugus Cafe and The Halfway House Cafe – both have a storied – and long! – history and have been featured in numerous movies. Speaking of movies, head up Placerita Canyon and you’ll see Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch movie studios. Santa Clarita is in the “30 Mile Zone” – your favorite show is probably filmed here! If you’re interested in leveling up your Insta feed, make your way over to Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park. These massive rock formations have been featured in untold films, from Westerns to “Alien Invasion” flicks – but today, influencers and wannabe IG stars head here for eye-grabbing photoshoots that look out of this world. I’d wrap at Salt Creek Grille in Valencia, the consummate gourmet-Americana hot spot, which I’ve decorated for over 19 years each holiday season. Salt Creek is home to the most beautiful upside-down tree ever seen – we’d “cheers” under the tree with SCG’s famous Christini martini!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am, and have always been, completely driven by service. I started Christmasing when I was a professional model traveling between Los Angeles, New York and Canada for photo shoots. We always had a break between Thanksgiving and Christmas – and I don’t know how to sit still.

My Christmas business started when my sweetest friend and mentor Cheri Fleming asked for a literal hand – she had rheumatoid arthritis. For 22 Christmases, I was her “hands.” She empowered me in all aspects of life, including the non-profit world, and then proudly watched me shine like the light she knew I was.

In the non-profit arena, I have mentored young girls and created and organized events that have raised over $7,000,000 for the special needs community. Because of my work, I was Santa Clarita’s youngest Woman of the Year at 30 years old.

After 20 years of Christmasing, we are blessed with a packed schedule booked years in advance. Every single one of my clients is family to me and not for a single day would I ever call what I do work when I get to dance around a tree and deck the halls of the most gorgeous spaces. I love Christmas so very much!

I fashion myself as His party planner and it’s the best job ever! When I took to social media last year it was truly to just share Christmas cheer. The Christmas community is so kind and it became fuel for me during 20-hour “work” days that spanned over a few months of the year. I answer every single question like it’s the most important question in the world and I am a constant for all my Christmasers who are looking for that light.

When I stepped in front of the camera and started to teach and mentor in a new capacity, everything changed. It’s really hard to believe that this aspect of my Christmas journey is just getting started but I am here for all of it. I lost Cheri last November after she suffered an aneurysm. During the season and in a pandemic, I lost my person. As she left this earth, I held her hand in mine and told her what she started… and the next morning was interviewed on “The List,” spreading light and Christmas cheer – puffy and heartbroken but honoring this gift. This should be a lesson for all that when anyone is in need, be the hand that lifts them up. You never know what will happen.
