We had the good fortune of connecting with Mercy The Host and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mercy, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

This book has changed my life by just shifting my perspective and implementing the agreements into my daily life. It would be hard to pick which one I live by the most but if I had to chose my favorite agreements is “Don’t take anything personal”. It is a reminder that anything someone says or does has nothing to do with you and everything to do with themselves. It is easier said than done not to take anything personal because naturally we all do. I still do from time to time but not as much as before. I became more self aware of my own actions and the meaning behind my behavior. For example, I realized me showing up for people was really about myself more than it was for that certain person. I showed up because I wanted people to show up me. When I became of aware of that I started to do the work and figure out the why and where did this all stem from. This welcomed a lot of self reflection, releasing , welcoming , and healing. Reading this book introduced me to the many layers of Mercy and opened the possibilities of who she can become. I recommend anyone and everyone to read this book. It is not a day that doesn’t go by that I do not refer back to one of the agreements.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I consider my day job is being a Recruiter in the IT industry. I enjoy it for many reasons, one mainly being apart of a positive shift in someone’s life. I am where I am today by being a professional chameleon, someone who can quickly pick up and masters things.. Along the way I have learned to never be afraid to ask questions and be a sponge. I want the world to know that who I am today I manifested it, the freedom.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start off with Blue Salt Fish Grill located on Artesia Blvd for their grilled seafood. My go to is their white fish ceviche and their white fish grilled plate. The next day I would swing by Pho So 1 in Gardena for their Shrimp Pho and end with a Sea Salt Caramel milkshake from Honeymee next door. From here I would take Western down and hit up the Slauson Swapmeet because it is a must for essentials ! Then swing by my mama house for her fire tacos. I would close the night out viewing the Urban Lights located on Wilshire Blvd. I mean we would be all over the place but it’s the LA experience, steady on the move!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

God, because without him my life could look the complete opposite. He literally aligned certain people in my life to teach and expose me to so much that has allowed to me level up. If people knew my whole story they wouldn’t believe where I am today and that is all thanks to him.

I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my Auntie Tracey because if it wasn’t for her my views about life would be so different. I met her at the age of 16 , during a time all I knew was to be in survivor mode and not trust any adult in my life to take care of me. She changed that, she showed me love by opening my eyes to my potential. She believed in me , my dreams.
