We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Fliegler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, why did you pursue a creative career?
The first 16 years of my professional life were spent cooking all over the world. I had an injury and at that time I decided it would be best for my health and family to hang up the knife bag. Soon after, I began a short stint in the financial services’ industry. I learned some valuable lessons about our financial system and how money works, but the most valuable lesson I learned was it was best for my success and happiness that I find a career where I have the ability to bring ideas to life. It took a few serendipitous events but it lead me to open the creative agency The Point Solutions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There is magic in storytelling. Ultimately that’s really what I do. I just use different mediums. Whether that’s photography, videography or web design. The two things that set me apart from most competitors are I always ask, “what do you want to achieve with this?” and “who do you want to reach?” After you can answer both of these questions, your next job is in the execution. This is where I can offer maximum value based on my skill set. There are a lot of creative people out there and some fantastic marketers. It’s rare to be both.

It took awhile to get to where I am though, I failed, I sold myself short, I chased unicorns, I’ve made just about every mistake in the book. It’s hard to stay optimistic and enthusiast. I’m lucky and grateful because I have family and friends who believe in me more than I believe in myself at times. I can’t disappoint these people, I can’t give up, this is what gives me strength when I get down. My story is about playing the long game and staying positive. Owning a creative services business is not a scalable endeavor, unless you’re maybe Disney or HBO. There are a ton of peaks and valleys. My goal is to build the machine if you will, and then add some of my own products and brands to the mix. That’s the next chapter I’m working on now.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them surfing, or at least to the beach. We’d go out to an authentic taco joint. My favorite in South County this week is La Rana. We’d hit some breweries in Orange County, (we make some of the best beer in the world here believe it or not). It’s weird because of the pandemic, I don’t go out like I used to, so I’m not as hip to what’s going on. I usually do outside stuff with the family, like hikes, sports and beach days.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have two people and a whole community that believe in me. I have to give a big Shout Out to my pops, David Fliegler. We started The Point Solutions together. He created and sold two businesses and is always there when I need business advice. My wife Carly, never lets me give up, and works her tail off to support us when there are road bumps, and as a business owner you gotta know there are going to be road bumps. Last but not least both sides of my family have pitched in, with daycare and encouragement along the way. I couldn’t have done any of this without their help and support.
