Meet Jeff Hyman | Recording Artist, radio show host and publisher of Somewhere In Time Music News”.”

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Hyman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeff, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One of the key elements to success in life and business is attention to detail, A need for perfection,a vision and being reliable. I have always been all of the above. I have started numerous businesses in my life, raising over $75 million to start a business in the healthcare industry that was very unique at the time. These qualities and experiences were invaluable to me as I began to pursue my music career after retirement. Making music has always been my passion and doing it in a quality and disciplined way was a product of my earlier experience in business. Not too many artists realize that music is a business as they focus on the creative side only.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer, radio show host and publisher of a world class music news newsletter. Each has their own story. I believe that the success that I have enjoyed in all three realms sets me apart from others. Each is a challenge and requires different skills. I am exceptionally proud of the recognition that I have received from the public and my colleagues for my multiple successes. Not too many people that I know of can say that. All of it took a lot of sweat and work to figure out the best path, learn all of the nuances and dynamics of each, and acquire and learn how to use all of the different complex technologies and tools to execute their visions. All of it starts in my head. Getting it from there to reality is the key. Many of us have ideas but don’t know how to execute them. That is where the rubber meets the road. There are always obstacles and challenges and the key is figuring out how to overcome them. Unfortuantely there are no formulas. Each case is different, and the people that can find solutions are the people that are successful in accomplishing their dreams.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s a complicated question becasue it would depend on what my friend was interested in. LA is a fabulous city filled with many fascinating things to do. Lots of music venues to go hang out and have a drink while watching some great live music. The Grammy Museum is always fun,as is the aquarium and other attractions. Let’s not forget about Disneyland, Universal City and places like that. The Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica is always interesting and the area is filled with great restautants. Depending on the time of the year, the beaches are amazing. I love Laguna and would certainly take my friends there for a relaxing day or two at the beach followed by some great food at one of the many restaurants in that area.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many great friends and artists that have befriended me along the way and significantly contributed to my success. First, Brent Fischer, two time Grammy winner and producer of much of Prince’s work. He encouraged me to become a member of the music community by submitting my first album for a Grammy. Second, Grant Maloy Smith, an amazing singer songwriter in his own right who helped me realize the best of my skills, col;laborated on two of my songs, and produced my last album. Also, David Williams of 2nd Floor Recording who has engineered and co-produced much of my recordings. Greg Scelsa encouraged me to start “Somewhere In Time Music News”, a highly popular and effective music newsletter that provides globlal exposure to my indie collegues. And Mary K Burke who offered me that chance to have my own radio show, “Somewhere In Time with Jeff Hyman” that is heard on many radiio stations around the world for 4 years now. It plays everyday somewhere on the planet.
