We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeisyl Aguinaldo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeisyl, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The aesthetic industry is a combination of art and science. The learning never ends, it’s what makes it exciting! Things are continually changing and improving. Also, it’s not a one size fits all as every face is different. There’s so much to consider when treating a patient – anatomy, age, ethnic background, skin quality and most importantly, what are the patient’s aesthetic goals. What a lot of people don’t realize is skin care requires long term commitment and maintenance. It’s not a one and done. As providers, we need to master our craft to be on top of our game. Safety and delivering beautiful natural results are our top priority.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
3. I started my career as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. I also did some travel nursing at Kapiolani Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Hawaii, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University in Palo Alto, and Children’s Hospital in Orange County. As a Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse, I took take of critically ill patients and their family during a stressful time of their life. There have been times where I walked into my shift, go straight into a code blue and perform CPR. Every day is never the same. This taught me to be flexible and open minded. These experiences have also given me confidence to embark new career changes and I feel it really prepared me to be the best aesthetic nurse I can be,

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
4. So many amazing places! I love the beach! Sea Legs in Huntington Beach is a must! They have live bands on weekends where you can dance on the sand! The venue is right on the water. The Deck in Laguna Beach is a great spot to dine in and watch the sunset. Not to miss is The Hollywood Bowl for concerts. And of course, make sure to visit our beautiful Kate Somerville Clinic on Melrose Place for some treatments! Our clinic was home to some of Hollywood’s legends such as Johnny Depp, Sean Connery, and Janet Gaynor.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
2. I was a Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse for almost 10 years before entering the world of aesthetic medicine. I needed a change when my friend, Sara Pavao (also an aesthetic nurse), introduced me to my now boss, Kate Somerville. I came to Kate’s clinic with no experience in aesthetics, but I always I was passionate with skin care. I was so nervous to venture this new specialty, especially knowing her medspa caters to VIPs and celebrity clientele. Since day one, Kate has been supportive and always believed in me. Fast forward 17 years later, she still gives me the same confidence she did when I first met her. I will be forever grateful to Kate for giving me the opportunity to enter this amazing world of aesthetics. This industry continues to evolve – from improving techniques of injecting neurotoxin and dermal fillers to advancements in laser treatment to treat wrinkles, acne scars, melasma etc. It’s combining art and science! The amazing part of this job is making people feel and look their best and giving them their confidence back. This is truly a dream job!
