We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenaya White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenaya, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I am the proud founder of Confident Queen Collective, a self-esteem organization geared towards girls of color. The mission of Confident Queen Collective is to empower girls to have confidence, courage, and character while encouraging self-acceptance by cultivating social, emotional & intellectual well-being.

One of the most prominent concerns for all communities is the future of their neighborhoods. They are particularly concerned with the future of their children. Students today are facing some serious challenges, and with the influence of social media, low self-worth, bullying, and substance abuse, just to name a few, it was clear that this organization was needed.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have dedicated my organization to fulfill the community’s need to offer and sustain grassroots programs accessible to girls with the greatest needs, with the strong commitment to inspire positive self-esteem and self-love among young women of color. Today, my goal is to be able to overcome geographical barriers and reach millions girls around the United States and beyond.

Confident Queen Collective will remain focused on reaching girls in Middle and High School, concentrating efforts on building leaders from the inside out, while guiding girls through a self-discovery journey that inspires confidence, self-love and a passion to pursue their dreams. Girls of all ages and stages experience various learning outcomes and objectives through our social and emotional programs.

Within in business, it’s not always easy. There has been ups and downs. However, I don’t focus on negativity or failures. I view them as learning opportunities and learn how to make better decision in the future. As a business owner you have to be strong because everyday won’t be easy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from Philadelphia, PA, the city of Brotherly Love. There is so many historical roots in Philadelphia. I would definitely take my bestie to all of the historical sites such as the Liberty Bell, Rocky Steps, Independence Hall etc. I would also take them in town to view all of the amazing Murals and Artwork. I would take them to King of Prussia Mall (one of the biggest malls in the country) to shop and to eat of the best restaurants. Some of the best restaurants in the city we would go would be Capital Grille, R2L, Davios etc. I would also take them to listen to some amazing Jazz music at “South” . I would also take them to Penns Landing waterfront to enjoy the view and festivities and go ice skating.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to send a major shout out to my beautiful children Jordyn, Jaylene, and Jaya. They inspire me each and everyday to be the version of myself. They motivate me to keep going and to never give up. I also want to shout out to my amazing husband who is always there for me and loves me unconditionally. He always supports me in everything I do.
