We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenithursday Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenithursday, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am so proud of being from the San Gabriel Valley and growing up in Alhambra California. I was exposed to the brilliant Suburban culture and had access to delicious candies from the countries that makeup the Pacific Islander Nations. I learned so much from my classmates at Ramona Elementary school such as being detail oriented and having great work ethics. My childhood upbringing was challenging due to being enrolled in the special education program and secretly experiencing incest abuse within my household. The challenges I faced at school and at home encouraged me to be resilient. It was like I wanted to prove to my teachers, classmates, and to myself that I was intelligent, ambitious and was worth so much more than what I was experiencing. I was able to exit out of “Special ED” classes my sophomore year of High school. Today, I am a 30 year old woman who has attended Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy also known as EMDR therapy to recover from my childhood trauma. While being treated under this specialized therapy, I’ve learned that my childhood was a bootcamp on how to be resilient and the brilliant detail oriented behavior that was shown to me by my peers trained me to be a forward thinker, risk-taker, and the Queen of questions. literally, this is the recipe that makes me the successful woman that I am. I am on a mission to show women the importance of healing from childhood trauma and how they could be successful at adulting-specially- in Motherhood.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is called Shawty Ambition. it’s a self development company focused on Peer Support. What makes us different than others? we have a R&B music genre as the core theme of our instruction. We are here to serve all women from all different backgrounds who wants to be successful in your life, career, adulting, and heal from childhood trauma. We also offer one-on-one virtual peer support sessions to listen and guide her to find a salutation to your adulting issues. Meeting with our certified peer support specialist, she will learn how you could connect with your inner child as an adult, how to find and meet with a therapist of color, how to attend self-help groups, and how to create a tangible social support for yourself.

The Word “Shawty” is not a gang relative name or is a refence to prostitution. Within the urban areas this word is street term used to refer to a woman. In the R&B music Genera you will hear it a lot and is used to symbolize female empowerment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I take my people for dinner to The HAT hamburger stand located on Valley and Garfield Ave in Alhambra Ca. and for a great vegan deserts we will go to the PEACE CAFE located inside Peace Yoga Galley in Downtown Los Angeles
