We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenny, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
What was your thought process for starting your business?

In 1999, Shawna Albright and I, Jennifer Evans Figueroa, founded Saving Faces Skincare. At the time, we didn’t know each other very well, but we both recognized a unique opportunity — and took a major leap of faith. We had been working for a company that was closing down, and after spending years building our own clienteles, we knew we wanted to continue working independently.

Our motivation was simple but powerful: we wanted to create a workspace that gave us freedom, flexibility, and the ability to set our own standards for client care. We envisioned a place where we could grow professionally and personally while delivering exceptional service.

Now, more than 25 years later, our partnership is stronger than ever. We’ve grown individually and together, adapting with the industry and evolving with our clients’ needs. The longevity of our business and partnership is something we’re extremely proud of — and it continues to inspire us as we move into 2025 and beyond.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is my unwavering curiosity and passion for learning everything related to wellness. I’ve always been deeply interested in researching new scientific breakthroughs and understanding how they can be integrated into holistic care. Over the years, I really learned to harness my craft — blending healing bodywork techniques with cutting-edge science to create truly transformative experiences for my clients.

Our brand, Saving Faces Skincare, is more than just a skincare studio — it’s a sanctuary. It’s a thoughtful, welcoming space where clients can decompress, heal, and learn how to truly care for their skin. Education is a huge part of what we offer; we believe that empowering our clients with knowledge helps them make better choices for their long-term skin health and overall well-being.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t always easy. Building a business from the ground up required resilience, creativity, and a lot of trust — both in myself and in the process. There were times when it would have been easier to take a safer path, but I stayed focused on the bigger vision. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that perseverance and adaptability are just as important as skill. You have to be willing to evolve, stay curious, and always keep your clients’ best interests at heart.

What I want the world to know about me and Saving Faces is that we are deeply committed to authenticity, innovation, and care. Every client who walks through our doors is treated with genuine thoughtfulness and respect. Our story is about creating a space where science meets soulful healing — and where each person feels seen, supported, and empowered on their journey to healthier skin and a healthier life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we’d jump straight into Venice’s vibrant wellness scene with a visit to Erewhon — stocking up on superfood smoothies, adaptogen lattes, and all the latest wellness snacks. Then we’d stroll over to the Venice Beach Boardwalk to soak in the sun, ocean breeze, and eclectic street art energy.

For a deep reset, I’d book us a contrast therapy session with hot saunas and cold plunges at Pause Studio, followed by a luxurious soak at Hume, where the mineral-rich tubs are designed to rejuvenate body and mind. Dinner that night would be at Gjelina — a Venice must — with wood-fired seasonal dishes and a warm, effortless vibe.

We’d start our mornings with yoga on the beach (nothing beats a Venice sunrise session), and spend afternoons wandering Abbot Kinney Boulevard, stopping at Mother Den for holistic treatments, energy work, and a soul-nourishing recharge. We’d brunch at The Butcher’s Daughter, sip green juices, and explore boutiques and art galleries along the way.

For another layer of healing, we might attend a sound bath or breathwork class if there’s a session at Den Meditation, or drop into a community event for some spiritual expansion. Evenings would be about winding down — beach walks at golden hour, rooftop drinks at Hotel Erwin, or casual, delicious dinners at spots like Felix Trattoria or Tocaya Organica.

One day we’d take it slower: an easygoing morning, soaking at Hume again, or a long sauna/cold plunge combo to ground and restore ourselves before grabbing an organic lunch and relaxing at the beach.

Venice Beach is the perfect playground for wellness lovers and free spirits — a place where you can blend cutting-edge healing practices with soulful, creative energy. It’s where you can cold plunge, sip the cleanest green juice, shop for crystals, take in stunning sunsets, and dance barefoot in the sand — all in one day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Who deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?

David Dressler cofounder of Tender Green restaurant has always been an incredible source of inspiration, encouragement, and support throughout my journey. His mentorship and leadership philosophy have made a lasting impact on the way I approach business, relationships, and personal growth. David has a unique ability to lead with both heart and strategy, and watching him build and nurture strong teams taught me the importance of creating a supportive, values-driven environment — not just for clients, but for everyone you work alongside.

I would also like to recognize our amazing Saving Faces Skincare community — our loyal clients, many of whom have been with us since the beginning. Their trust and support have truly been the foundation of our success. And of course, my business partner, Shawna Albright, whose collaboration and shared vision have been vital to sustaining and growing our business for over two decades. It’s the collective encouragement, trust, and wisdom from all these sources that has helped shape who I am today, both professionally and personally.
