Meet Jessi Martins | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessi Martins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessi, what’s your definition for success?
Success for me is the ability to accomplish your goals without losing your soul. If I had all the money in the world but no love, would it really be worth it? I believe true success is being able to enjoy what you do and, at the end of the day, feel peace and contentment with the life you have and the person you’ve become.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Unlike many actors I meet on set, my path into acting began later in life. As a teenager, I actually imagined a completely different future for myself. I thought I would become a doctor because it seemed like the most stable and secure path.
However, the unexpected loss of my best friend my father about seven years ago profoundly changed my perspective on life. Shortly after, I moved to the United States, where my focus became supporting my mother and my sister. During that time, the dream of becoming an actress something that had quietly lived in my heart began to awaken again.
Eventually, I made the decision to fully pursue that dream and moved from Florida to Los Angeles to train at the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory (LAPAC). The program was intense, disciplined, and deeply transformative. It required complete dedication, but it also gave me the artistic foundation and confidence to pursue acting professionally.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work on several independent film productions, including four supporting roles in feature films and two lead roles in short films currently in production. Some of these projects have already wrapped, while others are moving through post-production and the festival circuit.
During my training and work on set, I learned to embrace vulnerability, acknowledge my flaws, and approach the craft with professionalism and discipline. For me, acting is not about proving anything to anyone. It’s not about showing that I speak multiple languages or that I can sing,
it’s about storytelling.
Acting, to me, is the ability to bring a character to life in a way that reflects a piece of the human experience and creates meaning for the audience.
Because of that, I take every role seriously, whether it’s large or small. I study the script carefully, arrive prepared, and try to bring a positive energy to every set. My goal is always to contribute to the story and to the people I’m collaborating with.
Some of the most meaningful moments in my career haven’t only happened in front of the camera, but also in the deep conversations with other actors and creatives about life, art, and the stories we want to tell.
That sense of connection and purpose is what excites me the most about this journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is actually a funny question because my best friend did visit me last summer! I realized I’m probably a little boring compared to some people in Los Angeles because I’m not really a nightclub person. I love beautiful views and relaxed places.
I took her to the South Bay area, which I think is one of the most beautiful parts of LA. We spent time at Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, which has incredible ocean views and is perfect for long walks and watching the sunset.
We also visited Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach, explored the area, and tried some great restaurants by the water. One night we even did karaoke, which was a lot of fun.
For me, the best experiences in Los Angeles are not always the loudest or most glamorous ones, but the moments where you can enjoy the ocean, good food, great conversations, and the people you love. That’s my perfect itinerary.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s very hard for me to choose just one person because my journey has really been shaped by a community of people who supported me along the way, even in moments when I didn’t fully believe in myself.
First, I would give credit to God, because my faith has been the foundation that keeps me grounded and gives me strength during uncertain moments.
I’m also deeply grateful for my family, who believed in my dreams and supported me even when the path into the arts wasn’t always predictable. My spiritual mentors have also played an important role in my life, guiding me with wisdom and encouragement.
Professionally, I’m very thankful for my acting community at the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory (LAPAC). Being surrounded by passionate artists there has been incredibly inspiring. I’m also grateful to JC Films for giving me some of my first opportunities to step on set and gain real experience on camera.
When I look back, I realize that every mentor, friend, and collaborator who believed in me has played a part in helping me continue growing and enjoying the journey.
