We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Belle-Terry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how do you define success?
Success is your ability to walk in your calling. Each of us have something that we are called to do, its that specific thing that tugs on our heart or makes us feel complete. To me, success is being able to opperate in that, to help people and to make an impact on this world however big or small it may be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a podcast host was never something I was planning on doing. I just knew that I loved to hear people’s stories. I love for people to be set free and inspire others. “UNMUTE YOUR MIC” was birthed from me being crazy enough to believe that every single person’s story matters. The challenge in creating the space can be the judgment of others who find themselves uncomfortable with the stories that are shared. I’ve learned overtime its not my job to make the listeners comfortable, every story isnt for everyone. I want the world to know that we all have power in our voices and what we’ve gone through, I want the world to know that you can use everything in your life for good. There is beauty in the messy ashes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is filled with so much to do! During a week-long trip, we would have to go to the pier, Disneyland, universal studios, Hollywood, and runyon canyon holing trail. We would have to grab food from roscoes, the perch, and the soul food shack!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My life is filled with people who have poured into me, from my parents, learning from my siblings, husband, close friends, the CASA organization that really showed me the importance of having a heart for youth, and different mentors I’ve had along the way.
