We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Brittani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what inspires you?
What inspires me most are the little moments. In the past, I have struggled with depression and allowing people in my life who treated me poorly, because of that I became aware of the importance of self-love. Self-love to me are those moments that make my heart happy. Little things like making my bed, seeing yellow flowers, noticing angel numbers on the clock, celebrating my “birthday time” as I call it (I was born 8/27 so when I see the clock say 8:27 I have a 5 second happy dance saying “It’s my birthday time!), dance parties, and taking baths. Celebrating all the small moments as well as big moments inspires me most!

I created Calm & Colorful to create interactive coloring books that teach coping skills. That dream grew quickly into becoming a mindset mentor for teen girls. Growing up I struggled with depression and was given medicine to “fix” the depression. Instead it made me feel like a zombie. I started practicing mindset and mindfulness skills and that helped me really take control of my life. These tools really supported me to take full responsibility of my life and live a life I am passionate and happy with.
Before starting Calm & Colorful, I worked in classroom settings with children. I saw a gap in the classroom, students weren’t learning valuable skills like mindfulness and emotional intelligence. It was because of my own story that I knew I had to get these tools to teen girls so they could strengthen their self worth and feel confident making important decisions. My goal in creating Calm & Colorful is to teach children and teens to take full control of their lives, living as authentically as possible, and what a better place to start than during these crucial years.
My mission is to empower teen girls to love and accept themselves unconditionally, to feel comfortable in their skin, and make courageous decisions that lead to independent, positive, and intentional choices.
I do this through one on one virtual mentoring sessions with teen girls where our focus is very customized on her needs and wants. We discuss her core values and create a vision for her life so she has a clear direction. My girls have complete access to reach out to me any time during our sessions so if they have any struggles or celebrations throughout the week, I am there to support them and celebrate with them!
Beyond one on one sessions, as a full-time traveler, I create retreats for children and teens. It is a group in person setting, we dig deep into mindset while creating their vision and practicing mindfulness tools they can have in their pocket for their whole life ahead.
For the younger ages , I create interactive coloring books that teach coping skills, and it turns out adults love them too! Breathe In Color was published in 2018, it teaches breathing exercises through the beloved character, Sage the Sloth. Behind the scenes, I am currently working on 18 more for this series so keep your eyes out!
While traveling, I also love doing workshops in schools and speaking engagements sharing all my knowledge and tools.
During the difficult moments, when I felt like giving up, my support system is there for me and reassures me that I am on the right path, they always remind me how much they believe in me. I also use mindset tools I teach to my girls through mindset mentoring for my own practice.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is the importance of living in the moment. We are able to get rid of anxiety and depression by acknowledging what we are grateful for. People can give us the tools to conquer depression and anxiety, but in the end it is our choice to incorporate them.
If there’s one thing I want people to know or take away from my story it’s knowing you are worthy, everyone is worthy, and you are so loved! Believe in yourself and you can accomplish anything!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest cheerleader and fan is my mom, Hope. She always believes in me no matter how big my dreams and goals are. Not only is she my biggest fan, she is the reason I am the person I am today- I get my big heart, passion, and kindness from my mom. She is constantly helping me grow my business any way she can. I am where I am today because of her support and unconditional love. My whole family- aunts, uncles, cousins, and Bubby support all my traveling and big goals and growth for Calm & Colorful .
My best friend, Jenny Cornejo, who is also an incredible life coach. Every morning we message each other our intentions for the day, say our affirmations, and our goals for the day. Jenny supports and celebrates every win with me big and small. Jenny supports my personal growth and business growth through sharing her yoga classes with me to editing my books. We have weekly calls where she gives me space to work through anything I need support on and is always there for me.
My boyfriend, Kelton, has been the most supportive man I’ve ever met. He spends hours editing and practicing video recording with me, he believes in my dreams, and is by my side for every book signing and event I have while traveling the world with me always making it work. During the difficult moments he shares his strong loving hugs giving me security. He constantly pushes me out of my comfort zone supporting my growth.
Last, but certainly not least – Back in 2017 I invested in my first ever Life Coach, Megan Seamans, who has continuously been by my side over all these years and always celebrating my successes with me.
My support team is my safety net I have underneath me at all times. They lift me higher and higher every moment. I am beyond grateful every single day for each and every one of them.
