We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Up until recently, I thought work life balance meant being able to balance the time you spend working with the time you spend enjoying. I feel like everyone sees it this way we refer to it as “the 9 to 5 and 5 to 9”.

As an entrepreneur and the CEO of two businesses, a typical “9-5” does not exist for me.

I just read a book called Leaders Eat Last that completely changed my outlook on work like balance. I now think of it like this: If you have an amazing job but your friends/family situation is not ideal and you have no support system – is that balanced? If you hate your job, but have the most amazing friend group – is that balanced? NO! So to me work life balance is about finding a job that combines your passion and purpose that you truly love and a friend group / support system that is constantly lifting you up, pushing you to be better, and who celebrates each other’s success.

When you reach a place where you love what you do and who you do it with, then there is no longer a distinct separation on working an enjoying – now the scale is balanced! Once I started to think of things this way my whole mindset changed and I became more intentional with my time, thoughts, and actions!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run two businesses: PO3 Agency and OPPER. PO3 Agency is a full service social media management, digital marketing, and public relations agency representing a wide variety of clients. Our clients include celebrities, influencers, models, realtors, large and small businesses, as well as professional athletes. OPPER is an app that connects athletes and brands for NIL Deals. This is my journey:

I attended college at Pepperdine University and graduated with a BA in Marketing Communications. I had the best experience there, from studying abroad for a year in Heidelberg, Germany to landing my internship that I like to say started my career path. I was the Sports Marketing Intern at ESPN’s John R. Wooden Award which recognized the best male and female college basketball players in the country.

As my internship was about to come to an end, the COVID-19 pandemic began, and the world shut down. My boss and I from the Wooden Award, Ernest Baskerville, still wanted to work together so we started the podcast called Sports 4 Positivity in which we interviewed professional athletes and entertainment figures who used their platform and voice to promote positivity and good causes. While working there, I did the marketing, outreach, writing, and hosting for the show. After a little while some of the guests and sponsors saw my work, liked it, and asked me if I could do the same thing for them and their businesses.

In February of 2021 I opened up PO3 Agency with 3 clients, and I am proud to say a year and a half later we now have over 100. PO3 Agency is a full service social media management, digital marketing, and public relations agency representing a wide variety of clients. Our clients include celebrities, influencers, models, realtors, large and small businesses, as well as professional athletes. Through my work I have seen an undrafted free agent compete in the recent Super Bowl, retired athletes find a new passion, and undrafted college athletes find a new career path.

I recently won the Women in Sports and Entertainment Woman to Watch Award for my work producing NFL charity football camps and I have 3 Pro-Athlete charity camps coming up in 2023! I am also launching an app for NIL sponsorships very soon – so stay tuned for that!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well if they are from out of town, of course we have to do all of the touristy things like the Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd, visit Griffith Observatory (best at sunset), shop on Rodeo Drive then definitely eat at Yamashiro – outstanding food, amazing ambiance, incredible view, and Chef Valerie is the BEST! Can you tell I love it there? We’d also have to hit Disneyland and/or Six Flags Magic Mountain. We will definitely be spending lots of time at the beach, going to the Getty Museums, and driving along the PCH!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am not a self-made anything!!!! I definitely credit my success to those who have helped and supported me during my journey. BIGGEST shoutout goes to my mom who taught me *almost* everything I know. She is truly my role model and I love her so much!!! Next shoutout goes to all of my mentors – if they had not given me the time of day, I wouldn’t be where I am or who I am today: Ernest Baskerville, Sam Laganà, Ned Colletti, Don Costante, and Jeremiah Marshall (to name a few). Thank you for EVERYTHING and for believing in me.
