We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Tang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, why did you pursue a creative career?
I simply love creating stories. From a young age, storytelling has deeply impacted me, and even now, I still get ultra emotional thinking about the stories that shaped who I am. Whether it’s a powerful moment in a film, a scene in a play, or a breathtaking sequence in a game, I’ve always felt drawn to the emotions these mediums evoke.

Theatre, films, animation, and games all have this incredible ability to immerse us completely, allowing us to not only observe but feel the emotions of the characters and the world. When you’re watching a play or involved in a game, you don’t just witness the story—you become a part of it. That’s what makes these mediums so powerful for carrying emotional context. The audience or player is actively engaged, and that involvement creates a deep emotional connection.

I want to be a part of the crew that brings that emotional weight to life. To create stories that stay with people long after the curtain falls, the credits roll, or the game ends. I want to contribute to projects that leave a lasting impact, the kind of stories that inspire, move, and resonate on a deep level. That’s what drives me creatively—the chance to help shape those emotional experiences for others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I focus on crafting worlds that are immersive and relatable. I like tapping into real human experiences and translating them into stories that feel magical but grounded in truth.
Creating believable designs definitely isn’t easy. Like many creatives, I struggled with doubt and finding the right direction for my work. One of the biggest challenges was learning to trust my instincts and knowing that my voice has value. I overcame these challenges by continuously creating and collaborating with others. Every setback or criticism became an opportunity to learn. Surrounding myself with supportive people and staying open to growth allowed me to push through tough times and keep improving.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Pantages Theatre! A true gem with wonderful decors and there are currently some great musical productions coming in town there. Immersed in this wonderful theatre and watches the curtain raise, a brand new world and story lays right in front of your eyes.
