We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessie Spartano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessie, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
You have to work really really hard to stand up for what you believe in and not be told what to do, say, wear or who to be.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Rap music doesn’t have the cleanest taste nowadays but my music does. I don’t swear and I talk about real life issues that are usually avoided. I tend to stay away from explicit entertainment and focus on exposing truths that need to be discussed through my music. I also choose not to show off my body or face because I don’t want you to see me, I want you to hear me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the calmness of nature. You can find my hiking anywhere there are trails, lounging at the beach, escaping into the mountains or off-roading. I also enjoy grabbing coffee and reading books at Priscilla’s Coffee & Tea in Toluca Lake. Visiting vineyards in Santa Barbara is also on the top of my list.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really have to give my producer, Josh Zegan, credit where credit is due. He believes in me and what I have to say without trying to change me. He helps me to become better and for that I’m seriously grateful.
