We had the good fortune of connecting with Jiyeon Kang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jiyeon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The key to my success in both my cake business and baking teaching career lies in a relentless work ethic. I believe that the most crucial factor contributing to my achievements is the refusal to succumb to laziness. I approach my endeavors with unwavering industriousness, dedicating countless hours to perfecting my craft and ensuring the quality of my products and teaching. Diligence has been my guiding principle, pushing me to consistently deliver excellence in every aspect of my work.

Remaining committed to forward momentum has played a pivotal role in my journey. I am not content with the status quo; instead, I constantly seek opportunities for growth and improvement. This proactive mindset has allowed my brand to evolve, adapting to changing trends and consistently meeting the expectations of my clients and students. In both the world of cakes and baking education, the ability to keep moving forward has been a driving force behind my success, fostering innovation and resilience in the face of challenges.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My culinary journey has been quite a ride. I kicked things off by graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, a prestigious institution that set the stage for my career. I’ve worn various hats, serving as a pastry chef in luxury top-rated hotels. Teaching became another passion, and I’ve had the privilege to share my expertise at different institutions.

What sets me apart is not just my impressive resume but the unwavering dedication I bring to everything I do. From creating exquisite pastries to imparting knowledge in the classroom, I approach each role with diligence and a genuine passion for my craft.

Sure, it wasn’t a walk in the park. Overcoming challenges was part of the game. However, I never lost sight of my goal and remained focused on being the best version of myself. The lessons I’ve learned include never underestimating my capabilities and understanding that hard work pays off. It’s the persistence and commitment that got me where I am today.

Beyond the kitchen and classroom, I take pride in being a wife and a devoted mother of two. My journey is not just about professional success but also about bringing joy and happiness through the art of cooking. I’m not just a chef; I’m someone who loves to tantalize taste buds and create memorable experiences for others. That’s the story I want the world to know – a tale of hard work, passion, and the joy I bring to both my family and those I teach and serve.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
