We had the good fortune of connecting with John Savage and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Being a California Notary Public, I found myself trying to figure out how to grow my business by leveraging my efforts. I began to ask the question, how can I have customers find me online without me having to always go door knocking, calling around, driving to banks, care homes, law firms, or working on my website constantly trying to figure out how the algorithms work til 2 am in the morning? I figured, there must be a better way for my customers and Notaries to connect with each other without all the additional cost and time it can take to successfully secure a Notary when needed. As I continued to do research, I realized other Notaries have the same challenges, along with other issues of not enough experience, or they need to pay for more insurance, or have to get an additional certification with a preferred provider to gain access to a greater target market and compete for online advertising and listing space.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
MobiNP is in a class of its own. It took a lot of tenacity, faith, and persistence to get to where we are today. MobiNp was created for Transparency, Integrity, and Profitability. We put control back in the hands of the Notaries and their customers. MobiNP is designed to cut out the middleman and create more opportunities for Notaries across America. We exist to empower Notaries to confidently grow their business with a community of support. We provide many tools within the app to help Notaries track and streamline their business in real-time. For customers, we make it easy to find, schedule, and pay a Notary securely. With MobiNP, customers can find a Notary anytime, anywhere, 24 hours a day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend, Philip Campanella, were coming to town, I would take him to Downtown Sacramento, California to experience some great Thai Food at Orchid Thai where the food is authentic, amazing, and service is great! Or to listen to some great music and to see the vendors around town. If Philip wanted pizza, I would take him to Bengi’s Wood Fire Pizza in Rancho Cordova. Brother Ondo’s pizza is made fresh daily with a heart full of love, passion, and zeal. For night life, I would take my friend to Folsom where there is live music, great food, and a very energetic atmosphere. For movies, I would make sure I took Philip to Studio Movie Grill (SMG) where we can hang-out and watch sports or one of his favorites, Mixed Martial Arts, before seeing a great movie and eating great food. The staff at SMG are amazing. For a real adrenaline rush. I would take Philip to the race track where he likes to ride motorcycles.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am grateful to God for endowing me with the insight and vision to create MobiNP and for giving me the endurance to keep going after years of setback and disappointments. I am compelled to acknowledge and thank, my beautiful, amazing, patient, and supportive wife and amazing Stanford Cardinal, Leah, who has been by my side over these last 10 years along the journey. She has loved me through the sleepless nights, 1 am Notary runs, and encouraged me through much rejection and financial setbacks. I want to thank my business partner and friend, Wesley Alexander for coming along the journey and wanting to be apart of something bigger than ourselves. Wesley has taken his money, time, and energy to support the work to see MobiNP come to past. We have had many late nights at the office, 11:00 pm calls and texts back and forth working to test multiple iterations, and engaging every customer through emails. Wesley has truly been a brother and a friend who has helped me grow and become a better CEO along this journey. I am grateful to Rich Foreman of Apptology to referring me to Wesley when I was just flushing out my ideas and learning about app mockups. I am grateful to my parents for the financial support and more importantly, their words of hope and encouragement as they wait with great expectation. Thank you to Offsureit for the initial work they put in to helping get the app started. I am grateful to our developer, Josh Perryman of My Tech Dreams for the amazing dedication, work ethic, and he has graced MobiNP with. Josh has is a true problem solver and builder of dreams come true. I must acknowledge my late professor, Dr. Robert Simmons. I took a few business courses with him at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Dr, Simmons even took me under his wing by challenging me, pushing, me, encouraging me, giving me books or articles to read. Dr. Simmons was the one to encourage me to submit my first ever business plan I wrote, into our regions first Business Plan Pitch Competition. I am so glad I listened. We placed second in the region. I was told by a business professional later, that we were so close to getting first. Doctor Simmons, you will never be forgot! Lastly, I must thank all the Notaries out there who work hard everyday to help businesses run smoothly, to the late nights you give to help ensure a smooth transition when a loved one passes, and for carrying on the torch of centuries of scribes going back to the biblical times. You help the world go round and you, make a difference!
