We had the good fortune of connecting with John Wusah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Being perseverant, and just doing your due diligence. Hollywood is like any other industry, it takes dedication and repetition to get use to the flow this industry is set to. I decided to quit my 6 figure job in Taiwan to move half way around the world to pursue a career in dance at the age of 27. That took extreme courage on my part, I didn’t know anyone here. But I knew my work ethic was strong, and that I only have this one life to live. So why not live it the way I want to and push to make my dreams come true?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got to where I am today because I am blessed with a wonderful team, my manager Eileen O’farrell and my agent Kate Ward. They do incredible work and I love them all. My path wasn’t easy, I tell people I’m an artist because I’ve lived a tragic ass life. But that is a whole other book we won’t be opening today haha. What’s important is I survived my challenges, and I am stronger for it. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for those harsh and brutal lessons in life. It’s allowed me to realize who and what is truly important, I’ve never been afraid of failure, I’ve faced it many times especially in this industry. But you never give up, you never surrender. Keep building, brick by brick, stack by stack.
Failure I found is necessary, without it we would never grow. I hope those who read this will welcome failure when it comes, if you face it with humility. You will become a better version of yourself tomorrow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my friends come into town I always take them to the many nature spots LA has to offer, depending on the friend a night at the Pantages Theater is always fun. I love going to little tokyo and enjoying the many authentic japanese food they have there. But my friends usually already have an itenary of what they want to do when they come to LA, so I just shut up and drive.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother and late father, My mother who has shown me strength and perseverance as a child growing up, a single mother raising 3 kids on her own. Building her own empire, a fashion manufacturing business that allowed me a comfortable childhood despite being fatherless. She has shown me where hard work and dedication will get you, and I aim to use her exact examples to make my own way in life just as she did. I hope to do her proud,
My late step father, who showed me what love was when I desperately had none because my mother was always away for work. Teaching me that I mattered in this world, when all I faced was horrendous bullying because I was desperate to make friends and came off a little hard. For blessing me with his last word as he laid on his deathbed as I told him I wanted to move to LA to pursue this incredulous dream that I’ve been subconsciously holding off for the better part of my entire 20s. “Go” he said, that word hangs on my wall, I wake up to it, it remind me of why I am here. I thank him every morning.
