Meet Jordan Louis | Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Louis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think that risk is essential to leveling up in a career and in life. For me, taking risks has probably been the most important aspect of making progress. It was a big risk for me to move to LA when I did, and it was a big risk when I decided to do music full time, but without risks like that I would still be in the same place. Risks can be scary and uncomfortable, but they force you to take yourself more seriously. No risk no reward.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I mostly produce music that can range from r&b and hip hop to indie rock and chill electronic music. I started taking music seriously as a side hustle during college working in studios in Arizona. This led to working with more known artists and producing on a song with Wiz Khalifa and I decided to move to LA not too long after graduating UofA. It was tough for me to transition away from a so called “safe career” after college and it was definitely a challenge navigating into the music industry without having close connections. Some lessons I’ve learned are that you have to be willing to miss sleep to get to where you want to go, and to never be afraid to reach out or shoot a shot. Although I have a long way to go still, it has been cool to see my music in some popular shows on places like Netflix and Hulu, as well as on the NBA Finals coverage this past year which was a proud moment being from Phoenix. Over the past few years I’ve also produced on songs by Mitch, Arin Ray and the homies ED.1T to name a few and have collaborated with with a handful of grammy winning and platinum producers and writers which has been dope. Lately I’ve been focused a lot in my studio on creating a new sound with talented new artists such as Yasmeen Grace, so I’m excited for more stuff coming out soon as well as some of my own releases. Stay tuned

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would make sure to take them to hike Solstice Canyon in Malibu and check out Malibu Country Market afterward. They’d have to try the lobster rolls at Broadstreet Oyster Co. I’d also take them to the Fairfax flea market and thrift shopping in Silverlake / Echo Park. For dinner, Sushi Hon in Korea Town is unreal. Lastly, for drinks and vibes I’d take them to Johnny’s in West Adams.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out my group of friends, they have really had my back over the years and gave me a circle of support that helped me keep going with my journey in music. From old friends from back home, to new friends and mentors in LA, to my girlfriend, and of course my mom, they’ve all inspired me to push harder when I’ve needed to and I don’t know what I would do without them. Also, I have to give a dedication to my dad who inspired me a lot musically, RIP.
