We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Baldwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I started taking my art career seriously, I began partitioning my evenings, which helped me complete client work, personal studies, and passion projects. Although my time became too rigid, something I’m currently sorting out, and focusing on day-to-day flexibility. I’ve learned that balancing work and life may fluctuate based on the project. Still, remaining flexible is integral to not getting burnt out and maintaining a healthier work-life balance.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I draw and paint digitally, with most of my paid work being illustration for card games and short films, and graphic design for small businesses. My personal ventures are typically sci-fi soldiers or reinterpretations of pop culture icons. Lately, I’ve been learning literary and storytelling techniques while developing a graphic novel. Ultimately the book is a love letter to conceptual design, showing the evolving iterations of characters, symbols, and their mythology.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Many people are deserving of recognition, but my wife is my list. So shouts out to Symone Baldwin, my greatest supporter. She keeps me leveled, feeds my curiosity, and encourages me to step out of my comfort zone.
