Meet Josiah Jones | Creative Strategist and Artist Enthusiast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Josiah Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josiah, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
The end goal…I believe in setting abstract goals. Letting the outcome manifest in whichever way your best efforts produce. After working in roles and places that didn’t fulfill me I realized no promotion, raise or professional connection would be ‘enough’. My professional goal is to enjoy what I’m doing everyday and I’ve created a way for myself to do just that. Part of deciding to do what you want comes with respecting the process. There’s no longer bad days with work, there’s only learning. Creating a space where that’s a capability makes what I do not feel like work. If clocking in means creating meaningful work, connecting with amazing artists and producing to make an impact then I will never clock out.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Valence Projects – we’re a creative agency focused on making a positive impact. Combining creative strategy with our rolodex of multidisciplinary artists we create solutions for brands that are original, authentic and effective.
For now, we’re taking it one project at a time, leaving the most positive impacts possible in every interaction. We’re focused on building a community of forward-thinking creatives that want to use their art to create a better world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve run into this book – Secret Stairs of Los Angeles – when I have free time I’ll peruse around Silver Lake and Echo Park, Aside from that I have an immense love for my community in the Arts District downtown. The accessibility to live music, great art, phenomenal food and ease of access to the rest of the city make it an easy place to call home. Typically if I have someone in town I’ll take them on a Bird tour down museum row then a long ride over to Bar Flores in Echo Park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ll dedicate this shout to a great friend and producer Jacob Matthew. He’s been an open ear and terrific resource to helping me build out ideas and look at the hard facts of projects. He’s got quality input for any and everyone.
