We had the good fortune of connecting with Josueños and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josueños, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue an Artistic / Creative career because I realized in college I couldn’t see myself doing anything other than creating and making music. Classes began taking a back seat to creative endeavors and my sleep schedule also began paying a price as well. I quickly realized id rather spend everyday doing what makes me happy and feel alive, than pursuing a career path I wasn’t even sure I liked or wanted a degree in. Moved out of state and never looked back.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think if I wanted the world to know anything about my brand, story, or artistry it would simply be that leaning into who God created me to be is the strength and source of my creativity. And with that, everyone has a Unique God given gift that they can use to make an impact. For some its cooking, some its writing, some singing, some instrumentation, painting, design, architecture, etc. Whatever that may be, its assigned to you to change lives.

In my artistry personally I Find that expressing this message, amongst real life experiences and perspective are where my art seems to have the most impact. Some love the lyrics, some love the harmonies, some enjoy riffs or runs, while others just enjoy the overall expression of self and personal taste. Leaning into the things that make me uniquely me are where I lean most. Leaning into those things is exactly what’s gotten me where I am today. Talent and personal style are one part of navigating any creative career, but another part of things is being a point of connection. The more people are able to connect with your sound, vision, lyrics, or overall personality, the more people are not only willing, but drawn to support and show up for you.

Life isn’t easy for most, but what I can say is that all challenges and struggles faced helped build me into the person and artist I am today and I wouldn’t change any of that. Songs that almost never got release due to the emotion behind them became some of my biggest personal accomplishments. That said I’m super excited to release more projects with the next 2 being Singles “stratosphere” and “Casinos”. 1 dropping April 4 and the next following not too far after. By years end an EP or body of work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Itinerary for a friend would absolutely depend on which friend we had visiting, However there are spots that have to be seen/visited. More so if you’ve never been to LA. If you’re visiting Josueños a few locations are nonnegotiable as we got things to do and experiences to have. Top priorities would be Runyon Canyon, At least 1 beach visit, KBBQ, the Griffith Observatory and a taco truck! Loosely tho a visit would look like probably the Grove and a day of shopping first day! Second we’d absolutely have to get that hike in and follow it up with some K-BBQ! Best way to refuel. After leaving K-town it’s to Larchmont Village for either dessert or coffee! Next day would more than most likely be a beach day with the top spots being either Santa Monica as the pier or promenade are nice ways to follow a day in the sun, Venice which also has its own unique atmosphere, or either Manhattan Beach. Next Day we’d make time for some wine tasting and probably follow up with a taco truck to get that real LA experience in! Should the schedule permit, a visit to Catalina island is always an experience. Last day wed probably keep it chill but still adventurous with a nice breakfast, either homemade or at a nice pancake house. Then wed be off to the Americana to shop and explore as the rest of the day passes us by and the sun sets! Next day you’re going home lol but that would undeniably be a fun filled week with stories and memories to reflect back on for the rest of our lives.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God would be my Biggest shoutout as i wouldnt have the drive or talent to create music had He not seen fit to place that within me. Others would include my community of family and friends who have encouraged me over the years be it for singing, songwriting, or creativity as a whole. From a young age my mom would always highlight and point out how impressed she was with my ability to sing harmonies and to naturally deviate to them when singing along. without even realize it her encouragement nourished my confidence and desire to dig more into harmonies, later becoming one of my favorite aspects of songwriting and vocal producing. Others would be close friends who encourage my gift and the different dimensions of it. Some highlight songwriting, some find other things to highlight but it all pushes and encourages me to do more and be more in those areas of my creative process. Another but not least is simply online supporters and community. From Youtube, to Soundcloud, IG, and everything in between often times its the comments about how a song or cover impacted someone that can make all the difference and inspire a deeper sense of purpose in the creative process and lifestyle as a whole.
