We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Pliego-Gijon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juan, what are you inspired by?

The world is full of things to be inspired by, But for me it has always been the people around me. I have always been very particular on who I would dedicate my time too, Reason being is that I strive to always reach my goals and in order to do that we need the right people around you that not only motivate you but push you to do your best no matter how hard it gets. Im inspired by mentors that then become friends and then turn into family. Ive been privileged enough to be able to obtain mentors that have turned into friends and that I now call family. Im currently where im at in life because of their continuous support.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I have always given been dedicated to my work. Coming from a Hispanic family and being the oldest I was always told to work hard, do my best, help others and keep your promises. I feel that being taught morals at a young age is what sets me apart from others and that’s the main reason why i am able to relate and comprehend other people’s point of views. Today I can call myself a successful Business Banker/Loan Officer and a Facility Manager for Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program and im grateful for the experiences that ive come across. Was it easy? Of course not! it took alot of years, studying, practice & most important Trial and Error!

Ive learned so much through all these experiences from working in banking, to helping people with their financing, to working with foster kids and their mental health behavior. The biggest thing ive learned has been, take one day at a time and most importantly leave work at work and never bring it home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I want to go ahead and thank two separate groups/industries. The first is for the Financial Institution industry, I want to thank Theresa Binney, Liz Garza, & Erika Espinosa for always pushing me, mentoring me and making me the best person and banker I am today. I have gained so much knowledge and have been able to improve on a daily basis due to their mentorship.

The second shout out would be for Angelo Naemi, Angelo has been not only a positive impact in my life, but he was able to give me a new outlook on life and provide me with a new purpose. Becoming a part of the organization and assist Angelo with his daily operations has been a rewarding and fulfilling adventure.
