We had the good fortune of connecting with Jules Dameron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jules, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
If I’m being perfectly honest, I felt like I lived liked a kid before I started this business. I did not have good habits with my finances, my personal life balance and health. This business helped whip me into shape, mentally, and physically. It helps to keep reminding yourself how doing certain little tedious things ultimately helps your business take off. Systems need to be in place, scheduling needs to be in place, financial habits need to be in place. This is what ultimately helped our business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a big lover of the arts in general, especially in film and theatre. I am Deaf, and so is my business partner. The Deaf community is always in need of their arts to be supported and cultivated so their stories can be shared and told in the mainstream. I love the work I do because it means helping the Deaf community grow in ways that they never thought possible. I went to University of Southern California for filmmaking and that was an enormous challenge for me probably because I was deaf and everyone else was hearing. But in any case, I pulled it together and made sure I maximized my experience there so I could have information to share with the Deaf community that they needed to know. I am a lover of performance study and that’s why I specialize in directing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a toughie, because of the pandemic, but I would say that I’d take people to visit Ayce Gogi, a Korean BBQ place in Van Nuys! It is the BEST! The food is delicious. And I would take them to the Santa Monica Pier to have a beach visit, restaurant visit and see all the beautiful sights there! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my business partner and best friend, Joshua Castille. if not for him, I would not have had the motivation and dedication and the life lessons I needed to help make Hypernovas Productions happen.
