We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Simpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, what principle do you value most?
the value and principle that matters to me are simply to treat people the way you would want to be treated. I want to be treated with respect, so I treat others with respect. I want my views to be respected even if not agreed with so I respect other’s views. I want to be valued for who I am so I do the same for others. usually when people lash out and disrespect Rogers is due to the fact that they are hurting themselves. I try to lead by example. I live by the motto that people work with me, not for me. It’s a mutual endeavor to create something where everyone is involved and heard no one is shot down and the best idea wins no matter who it is from be it a director, actor. a pa or the caterer. if someone on the team is disrespectful to anyone it’s addressed immediately in a kind and affirmative way to find out what the issue is and how to resolve it in an adult way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a creator, writer, comedian, and producer. I have several series I have written and I filmed one of them called A.S.K. and filmed it and put it on youtube. My website has my lookbooks and links. www.jxproductionsla.com I love writing about the human condition and what makes people do what they do, then I turn it on its head and poke fun at things most people would not make fun of or think they could make funny. I have always been able to find the funny in the darkest places. Gret comedy comes from a place of pain usually and if you can make fun of the pain it does not own you or control you. I love to make people not only laugh but think and maybe see something from someone else point of view. I am not looking to change people’s minds but to open them up to see their way is n to the only valid way. I feel the more we all understand each other the more we can be there and care for each other.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When. people visit I tend to take them to the usual places and a few off the beaten path. we would of course go to Hollywood and to the beach but we would also go to the Getty. We would eat at as many different mom and pop places in the city. definable go to Nabu for tea time and to Gladstones. We would do everything from the star tours to going on the ghost tours, would visit all the historic sites in the city from Hollywood to Griffith Park. Also, any underground art shows out there and of course universal and Disney if they had kids.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my sisters at St. Monica’s cornerstone sisterhood. A group of beautiful. and supportive women who are always there to listen.. They love me for who I am and accept me as is. I also want to shout out to my medical team at the Davita center at sunrise airport Davita, who help keep my kidney failure in check and my dialysis working with my life not running it.
