We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliette Arciuolo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juliette, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs and small business owners so I have always known that I wanted to start my own business. I have always had a love for baking but only as a hobby. I would bake all the time for friends and family. It wasn’t until after I graduated from college (with a strength and conditioning major), that I realized I wanted to turn my baking into a business. I got my first cookie order back in October 2019 and, from there, it has been growing more and more each month. My business grew mainly through word of mouth. I was very lucky to have such supportive friends and family who saw my talent and believed in what I was doing. I am happy to say, as of March 2021, I am a full time baker!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think the best part about what I do is how custom my cookies sets are. I am able to take a customers’ vision and turn it into a cookie set that they won’t see anywhere else. Every order I get, I become more and more excited about what new designs and techniques I get to try.

I am a self-taught cookie and cake decorator. I learned all I know today through social media and practice, practice, practice. I am grateful to the baking community that I have met through Instagram. Everyone is so welcoming and willing to share their tips for decorating. It wasn’t easy getting where I am today. Before I went full time, I worked another full time job and I was working 80+ hours a week trying to juggle all of my orders and work. I also started during the pandemic and that made things much more stressful at times!

Some lessons I have learned along the way are to have patience. To learn from your mistakes and grow as an artist and a person.

I would like to world to know I put a lot of hard work and effort into my sets. I won’t stop until I think it’s perfect. I am constantly working to improve all aspects of my business. I continue to take courses and educate myself more in this field so I can have the best product out there.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am originally from Milford, CT but I am currently living in a small town called Phoenixville, which is in Pennsylvania. The great part about Phoenixville is that you are surrounded by small businesses and mom-and-pop shops. Phoenixville is also very dog friendly so you can bring your pup everywhere! If you are looking to get some drinks before dinner, I have to recommend ‘Bluebird Distillery’. They make such fresh and light drinks. They also have a wonderful outdoor setting section for you to hangout and pet all the dogs. For dinner, I would recommend ‘Bistro on Bridge’. Great food and wonderful atmosphere. If you want to get a little shopping done too, I would say go to ‘Threads Marketplace’. Not only do they have cute clothes, they also sell home decor and beautiful botanicals.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to my family for being behind me every step of the way as I try to start a new business during a global pandemic. I would like to shoutout my amazing boyfriend, Rick, for being that encouraging and motivating voice when I needed it the most. For helping me during those long night shifts as I rush to get my orders done. And for still being able to make me laugh after an 80 hour work week. Lastly, I would like to thank my all of my friends for making this all happen. For being my first orders and getting the word out about my business. I couldn’t have done it without each and everyone of you and I am so thankful you are all in my life.
