We had the good fortune of connecting with LOCS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LOCS, why did you pursue a creative career?
I began to pursue an artistic/creative career because once it went from hobby to passion nothing made me happier. I had other dreams and aspirations before I first picked up a mic and after I did all other things seemed to become inferior. I started to see myself on the big stages and my name being mentioned everywhere.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Hip-Hop/Rap artist that varies in tempo and sound. My music lives well in the energetic space but I do have music that is slower and more of a “vibe”. It hasn’t been the easiest making music as it takes a little while for someone to grow into their sound and step in a direction of certainty. I believe I know what I want my brand to be now and I’m building on that. With me knowing my foundation it has also allowed me to build branches and expand my horizon sonically.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve spent plenty of time in multiple places but in my hometown Columbus, OH I would advise going to the Zoo, The Ohio State University, and Raising Cane’s because I love that place. Everything has Christmas lights in the winter; even though it’s super cold it does look nice.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My manager Dylan Newman discovered me through Spotify while I was releasing music in college. We spoke over the phone for almost a year before I met him in person. After our first meeting it’s been uphill ever since. He’s put me in rooms and situations I wouldn’t be in myself and he’s been the biggest contribution to my success.
