We had the good fortune of connecting with Justine Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justine, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
How much more than just the music is involved when you are an independent artist. 90% of my days consist of everything unrelated to the actual music; marketing, admin, financing, booking, planning, fonts, content creation, etc.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I find my sound to be very encompassing of my upbringing in South Africa and Canada. I’ve been very lucky to have success on Canadian Country radio including having my songs picked up by over 35 country radio stations across Canada, with my single “Pour It to Me Straight” hitting the top 100. My cover of “Joy to the World” was the Top 5 most added Christmas Country Song in Canada and my single “Box Wine” was the #1 English Country Song on Country Pop 103,1 in Québec. Following my successes at radio, I was a final nominee in 2020 for Female Artist of the Year and Ray McCauley New Artist of the Year at the BC Country Music Awards.

I found some new listeners in 2022 with my singles “I’ll Leave the Porch Light On” and “Everybody’s Talking” receiving over 87 000 streams on Spotify alone and this year, my newest single “Coconut Time” has received over 80 000 streams in its first 4 weeks.

I have been incredibly fortunate to open for some of the best in the industry, including Dallas Smith, Meghan Patrick and Dean Brody.

My musical inspiration of soul, blues, traditional South African artistry, and old school country come through my sound, in varying ways.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Vancouver is full of beauty, great food and must see attractions. For me the things below would be part of our trip together 😄
