We had the good fortune of connecting with Justo Ontario and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Justo, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Sanity over everything.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got where I am today simply by faith and action. Everyone and everything that I am connected with professionally came from me taking risks. In addition, it came from God and the universe aligning with people that wanted to help and guide me. From performing in different cities to curating playlists for non-profits, it all started with me not knowing what would be on the other side of whatever door of chance I opened. Being an artist is challenging. A lot of it is a mind over matter battle to be honest. Luckily, I am provided with strength to overcome these battles by having VERY supportive friends and family. My mom always tells me to “MAKE things happen,” and hearing her say that alone empowers my mind. The fact that she knows I have the mental capacity to maneuver my life’s choices to reach highest/best outcome motives the hell out of me. It’s like a power up coin. One thing I want the world to know about me and my story is that everything I sing and do for the people comes from nothing but Good and Just intentions =]
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay so boom, 1st stop is Cheeky Sandwiches in LES for a egg, cheese, and gravy biscuit because thats just the proper thing to do when you get to NY. After that we go drop their stuff off at the crib, pre-game, then grab some bikes ride To and Through the whole Central Park. Afterwards, we go link up with some other artists or creatives to just hang out and build with. While hanging out we look through my different friends profiles and look for potential functions to go to during the night. 9/10 we WILL find a function to hit up. We then get in the car and ride around the city and go to LeBain rooftop for drinks. Then afterwards we transition back to Brooklyn and hit up a underground music scene concert. Last but not least we make our way to Bushwick and bar hope the rest of the night. Then on the next day, we do it all again =]
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
dedicating this shoutout to The Variety Group and Stephanie Soto, my manager =]
