Meet K Ē I T H | Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with K Ē I T H and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi K Ē I T H, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes, I always tell people that I’m determined to have a life worth living. Because of this, it gives me the drive and motivation to step out and be a bit more adventurous than I normally would. Taking on this way of thinking has really yielded me some results that superseded my own expectations.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is, in a nutshell, exactly that. I’d like to think that one thing that sets me apart is my approach to music. When I listen to a song or when I’m writing a piece for myself, I’m always leaning towards what feels good. I write and arrange with a lot of emotion and intentionality. I want the listeners to feel what I’m feeling in that moment.
I’m most proud of the new single that I released, not too long ago, titled “I Still Love.” I wrote that one straight from the heart and I believe that translates through to all who hear it.
I got to where I am today, honestly, through the church. I and my family have a long history based in church and the Gospel Music genre. I began to sing and rearrange songs very early on in life, following my Dad’s influence. He was very instrumental in the early cultivation of my gift and my musical ear. Much of what I do now is also because of the foundation that he laid for me. He didn’t go easy on me. Some of lessons he presented me with were a real challenge. But, I’m better for accepting the challenge! He taught me versatility. “You’ve got to be able to sing it all,” is something I recall him saying to me all of the time. It stretched me to not only learn my part, in my rehearsal time, but learn everyone else’s part, as well. He taught me harmonies and myriad of other things that I still use, to this day, and I’m so grateful!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, because I’m still somewhat new to LA, my itinerary would be a little short. But I would love to take my best friends to one of my favorite chicken places called, “Main Chick Hot Chicken.” They’re so good! After that, I’d love for them to come ride bikes with me through Santa Monica. That’s a favorite hobby of mine and it always helps me clear my head. From there we’d probably go to the gym because working out is a major part of my new lifestyle. I recently lost 70 lbs. and I’m adamant about keeping it off. So, working out is always apart of the agenda. After all of that exercise, I’d definitely introduce my friends to one of my all-time favorite restaurants on Sunset, “Bossa Nova.” There, we’d eat up all of the calories that we just worked off at the gym and have absolutely no shame about it because the food is that good! Lastly, we could hit up one of my favorite Afrobeats parties, in Hollywood, that happens every Saturday night. I’m sure we’d enjoy the rest of the night there just laughing and having a good time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a big shoutout to my family, friends and supporters. Without you guys, there would be no me. Your constant love and support really keeps me going. Thank you all so very much!
