We had the good fortune of connecting with Kamari Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kamari, what role has risk played in your life or career?
A lot of my proudest moments come from me pushing myself to take risks and go for it. Me being in LA again now is one of the biggest risks I have taken. I am originally from New Jersey and grew up there. I am now here in LA fully focused on pushing my business, myself, and creating space for me to thrive. It’s scary but what would I have done if I didn’t take this risk? Stay where I was and think about what could have been. Risk taking for me is about pushing myself to explore all this world has to offer. There are so many places to go, so many people to connect with, and opportunities that are waiting on the other side of fear. I don’t want to miss out!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I call myself the “Idea Pusher” and someone who sees a vision and goes for it and pushes other people to do the same thing. As a small business owner it took me a long time to be consistent in however, I have always had the mind of entrepreneur and wanted “find” my space. For the past 6 years I’ve worked on making @therapybymars my Natural butters and oils for body, hair, and beard business to thrive but one of my biggest accomplishments is my ‘Girls Who Grind’ annual brunch. It’s a brunch I host every summer for women in business to come together and celebrate our business and inspire other women to live out their dreams through owning their own business. Each year I have seen it grow bigger and. bigger to the point where we also create opportunity for new business owners to vend and sell their art/products to the group for their very first time. One lesson that I have learned is when you are consistent and create opportunities for others that you will succeed!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmmm….good question! Honestly as soon as they hop off the plane the dispensary would be our first stop! lol Our trip would consist of daily trips to the beach to watch the sunrise/sunsets. That’s one of my favorite things to do at Dockweiler beach. Then we will check out Simply wholesome on Slauson for some veggie patties and smoothies. Also enjoy the farmers market on Saturday in Playa vista and shop with some small businesses and a mimosa at Sol. We would check the Serving spoon for some good Soul food and shop some more at the mall in Santa Monica. We would also have daily tacos from all of the many street vendors too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This thank you would go out to everyone in my small village of GOOD people who support me and my ideas. I have a sincere group of people online and offline that have been everything to me. They have shopped with me, supported my ideas, and have given so much love over the years. I am forever grateful!
